KPM Analytics Expands Vision Inspection Manufacturing to Enhance Quality for Snack Food Brands

KPM Analytics Expands Vision Inspection Capabilities

KPM Analytics, a prominent leader in the field of system analytics and process optimization for food and agricultural sectors, has recently unveiled plans for a significant expansion of its vision inspection system manufacturing facility located in Pergine Valsugana, Italy. This strategic move aims to address the increasing demand from baking and snack food manufacturers looking to enhance product quality and food safety measures on their production lines.

A State-of-the-Art Facility

The new manufacturing site, spanning 22,000 square feet, represents a major upgrade for KPM Analytics' EyePro System brand, which specializes in state-of-the-art vision quality inspection technologies. This expansion will more than double the production capacity of their renowned systems, including the Q-Bake™ In-Line Vision Inspection System, EyePro Laner for optimized packaging, and the TheiaVu® E-Series At-Line Vision Measurement System.

These systems are critical in high-speed production environments as they meticulously monitor and detect essential quality factors. Attributes such as color, shape, size, and contamination by foreign materials are constantly analyzed, ensuring that only the highest quality products reach consumers.

More Than Just Production

Apart from manufacturing, the facility will also function as a hub for factory acceptance testing, customer training sessions, and hands-on demonstrations. These initiatives are geared towards helping food operators maximize the functionality of their equipment right from the onset. Furthermore, the site is equipped with advanced resources tailored for developing innovative hardware and software solutions aimed at bolstering food safety. This includes cutting-edge techniques such as hyperspectral imaging and the development of artificial intelligence models focused on foreign material detection.

According to Andrea Bertuolo, General Manager for Vision Inspection Technologies at KPM Analytics, the expansion is a direct reflection of their commitment to support customers facing heightened pressure to adhere to strict quality standards. With the additional capacity, KPM Analytics is poised to improve production throughput and better accommodate the evolving needs of their clientele.

A Commitment to Quality

The acquisition of EyePro System, S.r.l. in 2021 signaled a pivotal moment for KPM Analytics in its mission to aid food processors in controlling product quality. The company’s vision inspection systems have gained recognition in the baking and snack food industries for achieving 100% in-line inspection and ensuring the automatic removal of defects in production processes. Additionally, the focus on integrating AI technology with these systems to enable advanced foreign material detection elevates their brand to meet today's stringent quality assurance needs.

KPM Analytics' CEO, Brian Mitchell emphasized the importance of immediate detection of quality issues, stating, "Baking and snack brands are facing tighter quality specs and higher volumes. The ability to catch defects and foreign materials instantaneously is essential for maintaining high standards in production."

As the new Pergine Valsugana facility joins KPM Analytics' global network of manufacturing, sales, and support locations, it underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation. This expansion is part of a broader strategy that has included similar investments in facilities across the globe, including locations in Orem, Utah, Villeneuve, France, Ottawa, Canada, and Westborough, Massachusetts.
