Zachry Construction Expands Operations into Oklahoma with New Bridge Project
Zachry Construction Expands into Oklahoma with Roosevelt Bridge Project
Zachry Construction Corporation has officially embarked on a new venture in Oklahoma after being selected by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) to undertake the US-70 Roosevelt Bridge replacement project. This initiative, executed under a modified progressive design-build contract, marks a pivotal entry into the Oklahoma market for Zachry, a company known for its extensive experience in heavy civil construction.
The Roosevelt Bridge, which has been an integral link between Bryan and Marshall counties since its inauguration in 1945, is set to undergo significant transformation. For over 80 years, it has facilitated not only daily commutes but also commercial transport essential for local businesses and tourism. The upgrade represents a substantial investment in modernizing the infrastructure crucial for the residents and visitors who depend on this major artery for their travel needs.
This ambitious project, conducted in partnership with Traylor Bros., Inc., will include the construction of a new four-lane bridge. Notable features will comprise wider accessibility with shoulders, a median barrier, and accommodations for cyclists and pedestrians. The scope of work will also involve the demolition of the existing bridge; however, traffic management strategies will ensure the continuity of travel on the current structure throughout the construction phase, thereby minimally impacting the public.
Travis Mross, President of Zachry Construction, expressed enthusiasm for this significant undertaking, stating, "Entering Oklahoma with a project of this significance is an important milestone for Zachry. The Roosevelt Bridge is a vital connection for the communities around Lake Texoma and an important corridor for regional mobility and economic activity. We look forward to delivering infrastructure for ODOT and serving Oklahomans for the long term."
In addition to improving connectivity across Lake Texoma, the project is designed to enhance safety, reliability, and overall regional resilience. It aims to meet the growing demands of transportation while bolstering economic activity in the area. As Lake Texoma is a popular destination for both recreation and local businesses, a modernized bridge will be a boon to the local economy.
Greg Cangelosi, Southern Area Manager for Traylor Bros., Inc., expressed his pride in being a part of this joint endeavor with Zachry, emphasizing the importance of delivering infrastructure that prioritizes public safety and seamless mobility, even during construction.
Key improvements anticipated with the new structure include an upgraded roadway, modern lighting, and enhanced safety features to provide protection for all road users. The project aims for completion by October 1, 2029, establishing a safer and more efficient route across Lake Texoma.
The collaboration between Zachry Construction and Traylor Bros., Inc. combines decades of experience in complex construction projects, ensuring that the new bridge not only meets but exceeds safety and quality standards. To achieve this, the team is working alongside Parsons and MKEC Engineering, Inc., coordinating closely with ODOT to deliver maximum value over the long term.
Zachry Construction Corporation, a family-owned business with over a century of expertise, has successfully completed numerous large-scale projects by advocating for operational excellence, innovative solutions, and unwavering quality. Meanwhile, Traylor Bros., Inc., founded in 1946, possesses a vast portfolio of bridge structures, making them well-suited for this significant infrastructure project.
Together, this joint venture not only heralds the beginning of Zachry's journey into Oklahoma but also represents a commitment to enhancing the lives of the communities they serve, proving that infrastructure improvement is synonymous with community development.
