Exploring Nature Positive Solutions: A Webinar on Sustainable Practices

Webinar Announcement: Nature Positive Solutions

On May 29, 2025, Solidaridad Japan will host a webinar titled "Nature Positive: Leading Solutions Rooted in Nature - Regenerative Agriculture, Support for Small Farmers, and GHG Reduction." The event will feature three esteemed speakers discussing the possibilities of Nature Positive management with small-scale producers in Japan.

Speaker Line-up:

  • - Yuriko Matsumoto (Project Manager, Conservation International Japan)
  • - Taiji Fujisaki (Senior Researcher, IGES)
  • - Keiichiro Fujiwara (Founder, LA-Lab)

As the demand for sustainable sourcing and consideration of natural capital and human rights increases, it is essential for businesses to understand and collaborate with local initiatives. This webinar provides an opportunity to learn about on-ground efforts and strategies.

Key Highlights of the Webinar:
  • - Introduction to the Regenerative Fund for Nature by Conservation International and Kering.
  • - Practical examples and testimonials from producers involved in regenerative livestock practices.
  • - Solidaridad's support activities for regenerative agriculture in India and Latin America.
  • - The potential for Japanese companies to engage in Nature Positive management alongside small producers.

Who Should Attend:

  • - ESG, Procurement, and CSR professionals.
  • - Companies exploring collaborations with upstream supply chain partners.
  • - Practitioners considering TNFD and Scope 3 strategies.
  • - Individuals interested in agriculture, natural capital, and regenerative business practices.

Context:

Following the final proposals released by the TNFD in September 2023, businesses are under pressure to incorporate not only climate change but also biodiversity and human rights into their sustainability management strategies. Furthermore, with the EU Deforestation Regulation having been delayed for one year before its implementation in December 2024, it highlights the importance of understanding and engaging with ecologies and communities in production areas.

Over 84% of the world’s agricultural producers are small-scale farmers, playing a vital role in food supply while also contributing to deforestation. With adequate support, these producers can become guardians of nature restoration.

Japanese companies often face challenges in directly engaging with small farmers due to a reliance on indirect procurement. This webinar aims to introduce practical approaches and insights into establishing meaningful connections with small farmers, using the Regenerative Fund for Nature as a case study of CI and Kering’s collaboration, along with practical examples of environmental regenerative livestock practices shared by Solidaridad.
