Airway Therapeutics Secures $50 Million Financing for Zelpultide Alfa

Atlanta, GA – August 25, 2026 – Airway Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing cutting-edge therapies for respiratory, inflammatory, and infectious diseases, has announced the successful closure of a $50 million funding round to support the advanced clinical development of Zelpultide Alfa, a novel recombinant human surfactant protein D (rhSP-D).

The latest funding consists of $26 million previously raised through a SAFE financing method and an additional $24 million obtained from the Series E-2 round. This capital infusion will primarily facilitate the completion of Phase 2b of a pivotal clinical trial assessing Zelpultide Alfa for the prevention of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in very premature infants, along with necessary chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) as well as analytical activities that are crucial for advancing the program.

An impressive 94% of current investors participated in the Series E-2 round, which highlights their ongoing confidence in Airway Therapeutics. Participating investors include the Cincinnati Children's Hospital and a consortium of prominent family offices committed to pioneering innovative therapies for severe respiratory disorders.

An important milestone is approaching for Airway Therapeutics with an interim analysis expected to complete Phase 2b of the current Phase 2b/3 clinical trial. Results from this interim analysis are anticipated to be available by late Q2 2027.
