In a significant move strengthening their collaboration, Sawgrass LNG & Power has been awarded a renewed liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply contract by the Barbados National Energy Company Limited (BNECL). This contract marks an important milestone in their longstanding partnership, which began in 2016 and has evolved into nearly a decade of collaboration aimed at securing sustainable and reliable energy for Barbados.

The agreement will enable Sawgrass LNG & Power to continue delivering LNG essential for supporting the growth of Barbados’ energy infrastructure. This contract is a testament to the successful partnership built on trust and operational excellence over the years. James Browne, Officer-In-Charge at BNECL, stated, “LNG has become a critical component in our transition towards a diversified energy mix that aims to reduce reliance on traditional fossil fuels. For an island economy like Barbados, addressing unique energy challenges is vital. This partnership not only enhances short-term energy stability but also facilitates the gradual integration of renewable resources such as solar and wind along with advancements in battery energy storage systems (BESS) for sustainable development.”

In response, Daniel McLaughlin, President & Chief Commercial Officer of Sawgrass, expressed his pride in continuing to support Barbados and BNECL with dependable, low-emission energy solutions.
