The Final AI Bricolage Session: Exploring Creative Paradoxes
The second season of the
AI Bricolage Session, organized by the Graduate School of Digital Hollywood, is coming to a close with a thought-provoking final event scheduled for
July 28, 2026. Centered on the theme of
“The Paradox of Future Creation”, this session will be hosted by renowned media aesthetics scholar
Miki Tameura, who has spent years exploring the intricate relationship between technology and media.
Background of the Seminar Series
Since its launch in
November 2025, the AI Bricolage sessions have aimed to integrate four critical elements:
Science, Engineering, Art, and Design (SEAD). Each session has served as a platform for creatives and academics to converge, discuss, and provide a deeper understanding of how AI is reshaping creative landscapes. The previous sessions covered topics such as collaborative filmmaking, the redefinition of creativity, the future of music, and the nuances between generation and drawing.
The series has garnered a significant turnout, inspiring dialogue amongst the participants, thanks to the moderation of
Toshihiro Fukuoka, a special professor at the university.
Focus of the 5th Session
At the heart of the concluding session lies a question that challenges the very essence of creativity: Is AI a partner in creation, or does it pose a risk to human creativity? Miki Tameura will dive into this dichotomy, pointing out the risks, ethical dilemmas, and uncertainties that emerge from the widespread adoption of generative AI tools. Participants can expect to explore how these tools democratize the act of creation while simultaneously stripping away its inherent solitude, serendipity, and even the value of failure.
Miki Tameura's Perspective
Tameura's extensive research spans the evolution of digital societies and media, from the early days of the internet to the current AI-driven landscape. He brings a unique lens to the conversation, calling into question not only the impact of generative AI on artistic processes but also the fundamental meaning of creation in an increasingly mechanized world.
