Elaine Kearney of TBG Partners Named ASLA Fellow for Landscape Architecture Excellence

Elaine Kearney Elevated to ASLA Fellow

TBG Partners, an innovative landscape architecture and urban planning firm based in Texas, proudly announces that its Managing Principal, Elaine Kearney, has been elevated to the esteemed Council of Fellows of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). This recognition is awarded to only 50 landscape professionals across the nation each year, celebrating those who have made significant contributions to the field and society overall.

Kearney's formal induction took place during the ASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture held in New Orleans on October 12, 2025. Her remarkable achievements highlight exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing the discipline. Her impact on the landscape architecture profession is profound, as she has enhanced its visibility and emphasis on equity at multiple levels—local, regional, and national.

Since establishing TBG's San Antonio office in 2017, Kearney has committed to fostering ecologically sensitive landscapes that strengthen community ties. She has led her teams in several notable projects, including Dignowity–Lockwood Park, the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance Headquarters and Memorial Garden, along with various trail and park initiatives in the South Texas Medical Center. Kearney not only emphasizes aesthetics in design but also prioritizes the communal and environmental context within her projects.

Elaine reflects on her role, stating, "As a landscape architect, I view my work as both a creative practice and a civic duty. I strive to shape resilient, beautiful places rooted in their ecology which respond to the needs of people and communities. From parks and memorials to campuses and urban centers, my goal is to create spaces that heal, connect, and inspire." This perspective is not only her personal ethos but also reinforces her commitment to broadening access and promoting equity for a sustainable future.

In addition to her accomplishments at TBG Partners, Kearney actively participates in various nonprofit organizations. She serves as the President-Elect on the board of the National Landscape Architecture Foundation, where she has previously held the position of Vice President of Development. Her efforts have been instrumental in securing funding and launching programs aimed at supporting underrepresented groups within the profession, including the IGNITE program, which focuses on minority students.

Kearney’s leadership quality is further recognized as she has been elected as President of the Landscape Architecture Foundation for the year 2027. As Vice President of the San Antonio Botanical Garden, she oversaw the development of a transformative 10-year master plan aimed at conserving the native plant life of South Texas. Moreover, her role as a citizen adviser on the Linear Creekway Parks Advisory Board showcases her dedication to promoting the 100 miles of trails constituting the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trail system.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions, she was honored with the 2022 Texas ASLA Service Award. Bill Odle, the President of TBG Partners, described her elevation to ASLA Fellow as “a tremendous recognition of her profound influence on the profession and her unwavering commitment to both people and place.” He emphasized that her leadership at TBG has not only propelled the growth of the San Antonio office but has also encouraged the value of landscape architecture throughout Texas.
