Empowering Teachers with Practical Case Studies for Home Economics Classes in Japan

Introduction

On August 26, 2026, the Japan Face Type Diagnosis Association will host a free online seminar aimed at teachers working in home economics and related subjects in middle and high schools. The seminar, titled "Practical Seminar for Creating Effective Lessons," will offer insights on enhancing lesson planning through garment selection, promoting self-awareness and mutual understanding among students.

What to Expect from the Seminar

During this session, educators will explore how to examine clothing from the perspectives of color, shape, and material. This approach encourages students to consider suitable clothing choices for themselves, which not only builds their understanding of personal style but also fosters a deeper respect for their peers’ differences. The seminar aims to share practical examples of classroom activities that have successfully integrated these concepts.

Additionally, participants will receive free educational resources, including a self-diagnostic chart utilizing face type analysis and various teaching materials that can be applied immediately in their lessons.

Background of the Event

The educational guidelines for home economics emphasize the importance of teaching students about clothing selection and lifestyle management. However, many teachers express challenges in finding engaging content and creating lessons that resonate with students personally. This seminar recognizes that choosing clothes suited for oneself is not merely about fashion. Distilling the elements of clothing into color, shape, and material empowers students to comprehend their individual selections and express their uniqueness.

Moreover, understanding that preferences differ from person to person cultivates self-awareness and appreciation for diverse perspectives among students. The seminar will feature insights from educators who have effectively embedded these educational values into their home economics classes, providing participants with easy-to-implement materials and design tips for lesson planning.

Learning Outcomes

Participants in the seminar will engage with:

1. Exploring Clothing Choices: An understanding of the three fundamental elements of clothing selection—color, shape, and material—will be developed.
2. Face Type Diagnosis Self-Assessment: Attendees will experience a simplified version of the self-diagnosis chart, deepening their understanding of how to choose clothing that fits their personal style.
3. Real Classroom Examples: The seminar will invite guest educators to share their experiences, including the rationale behind their lesson design, student feedback, and effective strategies for implementation.
4. Implementation Strategies and Q&A: Participants will have the opportunity to address their queries, gaining insight into methods for introducing these concepts into their own classrooms.

  • - Face Type Diagnosis Self-Assessment Chart

Understanding Face Type Diagnosis

Face Type Diagnosis is an original method developed by the Japan Face Type Diagnosis Association which objectively analyzes facial features and classifies them into eight distinct types. The goal is to derive what styles of clothing, hairstyles, and makeup best suit individuals, positively impacting their outward impression. By enhancing self-awareness and promoting an understanding of diversity, this method is making inroads in educational settings, corporate training, and the fashion industry.
