Deirdre Franzese Appointed as BayCare's New Vice President of Financial Services

BayCare Health System has recently announced the appointment of Deirdre Franzese, CPA, as the new vice president of system financial shared services, effective immediately. This new position aims to increase leadership within the organization's financial operations and shared services, which is crucial for maintaining high standards of operational excellence, transparency, and long-term sustainability.

In her new role, Franzese will oversee several key functions including net revenue management, financial reporting, and the technology platforms associated with finance. She will also be responsible for essential shared services such as accounts payable and payroll, which are integral to ensuring consistency, standardization, and accuracy across the board. Reporting directly to Chief Financial Officer Janice Polo, she will ensure that the organization remains compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), IRS regulations, and internal financial policies, working alongside the BayCare Government Relations team on reimbursement and regulatory strategies.

“Deirdre brings strong leadership in fast-growing, complex environments, and her skills will take our Shared Services team to the next level,” said Polo. “We are excited to have her in this role.”

Franzese previously served as director of finance for BayCare Medical Group, which is recognized as the leading multi-specialty group in Tampa Bay. In this capacity, she managed the financial operations for the $750 million physician enterprise, streamlining processes significantly. Notably, she spearheaded automation initiatives that led to a remarkable 20% reduction in manual processes and achieved an annual cost avoidance of $80,000. Additionally, she managed a finance team of 25 individuals while maintaining headcount even during a period when the provider network saw a 60% increase. Her efforts also included implementing real-time executive dashboards to facilitate improved decision-making.

Expressing her enthusiasm for her new role, Franzese stated, “I’m honored to serve BayCare in this new capacity. By strengthening shared financial services across net revenue, reporting, and core operations, we’ll enhance consistency and transparency system-wide—allowing our teams to focus on advancing BayCare’s mission.”

Deirdre Franzese holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of South Florida and is a certified public accountant, demonstrating her strong educational foundation and expertise in the financial sector.
