New Educational Initiative: The 12-Week Mini-MBA Program
In a groundbreaking collaboration, Abilitie, TED, and St. Edward's University today unveiled a new global educational offering—the 12-Week Mini-MBA program. This professional development course is designed to cater to working individuals who seek to enhance their business acumen without putting their careers on hold. For a fee of $4,500, participants will engage in live online classes with experienced industry instructors and also have the opportunity to network globally.
The Mini-MBA program, which is a redesigned version of the previously launched Invited MBA concept from 2019, integrates TED’s impactful content, interactive business simulations, and live discussions, supplemented by a highly diverse cohort from around the world. Upon completion, participants are awarded a professional development certificate from St. Edward's University, which underscores the program's academic rigor and relevance.
"The 12-Week MBA applies powerful TED ideas to real business challenges, enabling leaders to expand their perspectives, solve problems, and effectively support their teams," said Darby Coleman, a senior leader at TED@Work. This sentiment highlights the pivotal role this program aims to play in shaping future business leaders. Research indicates that over 80% of managers worldwide lack an advanced business degree, a substantial gap that poses challenges for organizations looking to develop future leaders in the global marketplace.
In response to this need, short-format MBA programs like the 12-Week MBA are increasingly being employed to equip executives with crucial business judgment and team leadership skills. "Leaders of tomorrow require more than just theoretical knowledge; they must apply business judgment in practical contexts," remarked Bjorn Billhardt, CEO of Abilitie. He emphasized that the interactive and live nature of the program fosters the acquisition of financial literacy, strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities among participants.
The curriculum will involve live online sessions occurring three times a week, incorporating team-based business simulations that reflect real-world leadership challenges. Designed to enhance participants’ understanding of corporate finances, resource management, strategic planning, and decision-making in rapidly evolving business environments, this program is meticulously crafted to address contemporary business needs.
St. Edward's University prides itself on academic excellence, and its involvement in this initiative showcases its commitment to developing flexible and effective learning opportunities for professionals. Marianne Ward-Peradoza, Vice President of St. Edward's University, noted, "We recognize that professionals today require adaptable learning paths to further enhance their skill sets, and this program exemplifies our dedication to creating avenues that help them remain competitive."
To maintain an interactive learning environment, the program limits enrollment to 40 participants per section, with a cap at 200 participants across the global program. Furthermore, the Mini-MBA culminates in an in-person weekend event in major business hubs such as Berlin and Dubai, with accommodations and meals included in the tuition fees. Applications for the fall 2026 cohort are now open, and interested individuals can find out more details at
