Milabo Launches Digital Infant Health Check Service
In an effort to modernize and enhance the infant healthcare experience, the
Milabo Corporation, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has announced the introduction of their digital health check service,
mila-e Checkup, in
Arao City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Starting April 2026, this service will be put into operation for infant health checks at 1.5 years, dental checks at 2 years, and health checks at 3 years old.
Background of the Service Implementation
Arao City is dedicated to supporting families during pregnancy and child-rearing, which led to the development and introduction of the
Arao Childcare App—a mobile platform designed to assist parents. This app, launched in October 2025, streamlines access to various child-rearing services, improving the overall parenting experience.
In conjunction with the rollout of this app, Milabo also initiated an online reservation system, known as
mila-e Reservation, enabling parents to easily schedule appointments for essential health services such as the issuance of maternal and child health handbooks and parenting consultations.
Now, utilizing the
Mother and Child Health Subsidy, Arao City will incorporate the
mila-e Checkup service, facilitating a smoother process for health checkups beginning in April 2026.
Challenges Addressed by the New Service
Traditionally, parents in Arao City faced the cumbersome task of filling out paper health questionnaires, which often caused issues related to time and accuracy.
Solutions Offered by mila-e Checkup
With the implementation of
mila-e Checkup, parents can now input and submit their health questionnaires conveniently through their smartphones. This not only simplifies the process for families but also allows local health officials to access and review health records online, ensuring better communication and efficiency within the healthcare framework.
Overview of the mila-e Checkup Service
The
mila-e Checkup service is designed specifically for infant health checks and is capable of accommodating both individual and group consultations. Its infrastructure supports seamless communication between local governments, healthcare providers, and parents, thus ensuring continuous health record management.
This digital service has evolved through various pilot programs endorsed by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry and the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare, building on technological advancements gained from managing COVID-19 vaccination records and certification applications.
The service is not only a step towards digitization but also a commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and efficiency for families across Japan. Interested municipalities are invited to explore the implementation of
mila-e Checkup through tailored information sessions hosted by Milabo.
