ACMG Announces New Leadership Board and President-Elect for 2025

The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics Welcomes New Leadership

The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) took a significant step forward at its Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting held in Los Angeles, California, announcing the induction of six new directors, including a groundbreaking president-elect. This announcement underscores the organization's commitment to advancing genetic medicine, marking a pivotal evolution in its leadership.

As part of an extensive leadership overhaul, the newly elected members will serve six-year terms beginning in March 2025 through March 2031. This transition comes as a heartfelt farewell to the outgoing members, including geneticists Marc Williams, Heidi Rehm, Karen Gripp, Dieter Matern, Michael Murray, and Cynthia Powell, each of whom has made notable contributions during their terms.

ACMG President, Dr. Susan Klugman, expressed her optimism about the incoming board, stating, "Our new board members come with a wealth of experience and fresh ideas. They have demonstrated a deep commitment to the College through various roles and initiatives, which will be essential for shaping the future." This election is particularly historic as it introduces the first-ever PhD to serve as president-elect, and marks a notable moment with all of the organization's top leadership roles being held by women.
