New Pacific Metals Secures Administrative Contracts and Launches 2026 Drill Program at Carangas Project
New Pacific Metals Advances with Carangas Project
On August 26, 2026, New Pacific Metals Corp. announced a significant step forward in its Carangas Silver-Gold Project, situated in the Oruro Department of Bolivia. The company successfully signed Administrative Mining Contracts (AMCs) for the project after completing a prior consultation process with the local community and regional stakeholders. This move transitions the project from prospecting and exploration licensing to a more permanent mining framework.
Key Milestone for Carangas Project
The AMCs cover an area of approximately 39 km² and come with a fixed term of 30 years. Signed with the Bolivian Administrative Mining Jurisdictional Authority (AJAM) on August 21, 2026, these contracts are crucial in de-risking the project's future permitting process. The company intends to submit these contracts to the Plurinational Legislative Assembly of Bolivia for ratification, marking the next step in formalizing its mining tenure.
Following legislative approval, New Pacific plans to enhance the Carangas Project by completing additional permitting and technical work. This crucial phase includes environmental categorization and the Environmental Impact Assessment process, both necessary for moving the project forward.
2026 Drill Program Details
In conjunction with the signing of the AMCs, New Pacific is gearing up for its 2026 drill program, set to kick off the week of September 8, 2026. The campaign plans to drill approximately 30,000 meters, allocating a significant portion—25,000 meters—towards upgrading mineral resources in both the silver and gold zones of the project. The remaining drilling will focus on exploring extensions and new targets, including standalone chargeability anomalies that were identified in induced polarization surveys conducted in 2023.
Site preparations are already underway, involving the mobilization of drilling equipment and contractors, to ensure the expedient commencement of the drill program. The data gathered during the drilling campaign will play a vital role in the planned feasibility study, including obtaining samples for metallurgical testing and carrying out geotechnical and hydrological assessments.
