Life Flight Network Expands Presence in Idaho
Life Flight Network, the largest not-for-profit air medical transport service in the United States, has recently declared the establishment of a new base of operations in Hailey, Idaho. Set to launch in the fall, this expansion is aimed at serving Blaine County and its neighboring areas more effectively. The new facility will significantly improve access to critical medical care, especially in emergency situations where time is a critical factor.
Dr. Malie Koplin, the EMS Medical Director for Blaine County, highlighted the pressing need for fast and reliable air medical transport in the region. He emphasized that a local air ambulance base will bolster emergency response efforts and ultimately lead to better patient outcomes. Ben Clayton, CEO of Life Flight Network, expressed his enthusiasm about expanding services in Idaho, stating that their goal is to make lifesaving care accessible to every community. The presence of the new base is expected to reduce transport times and enable medical teams to deliver ICU-level care promptly, thus enhancing survivability for patients in critical situations.
The decision to build a base in Hailey was the result of close collaboration between Life Flight Network and local healthcare providers, emergency responders, and public officials. This partnership has underscored the community's need for dedicated emergency air medical services. Hailey, known for its increasing population and popularity among tourists in the Sun Valley area, sees thousands of visitors annually, making this base an essential addition for both locals and travelers who may face medical emergencies.
Angenie McCleary, Chair of the Board of Blaine County Commissioners, expressed her excitement about the establishment of Life Flight Network’s local base, noting that having a helicopter stationed in the area will greatly enhance medical response capabilities and improve patient care. Furthermore, Sheriff Morgan Ballis from the Blaine County Sheriff's Office echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the new air ambulance service will provide timely medical interventions that can save lives.
Life Flight Network is committed to staffing their new base with highly trained professionals, including pilots, flight nurses, and paramedics, all of whom will be equipped to operate the latest medically configured Bell 407 GXi helicopter. This helicopter will function as a mobile intensive care unit, capable of performing a variety of critical procedures, including blood transfusions, while en route to medical facilities.
Additionally, this new base signifies a substantial investment in the local economy, expected to generate nearly $2 million and create approximately 15 new jobs in the area. Life Flight Network continues to uphold its mission of saving lives through superior care and transport, maintaining its status as a leading not-for-profit air medical service recognized for safety and clinical excellence. It operates under an FAA Part 135 Operating Certificate, ensuring high-quality air and ground transport services throughout the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West regions.
