Columbia Bank Expands Presence in Colorado with New Office in Colorado Springs
Columbia Bank Expands Its Colorado Footprint
Columbia Bank, a prominent name in the banking sector, has officially opened its first commercial office and retail branch in Colorado Springs, marking a significant milestone in its strategic expansion across the state. This new location not only enhances Columbia's service capacity but also solidifies its commitment to the local community and businesses in Southern Colorado.
A New Chapter for Columbia Bank
This latest development was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by community leaders and bank representatives, symbolizing Columbia's dedication to the region. Having established its presence in Colorado Springs in 2023 with the establishment of a solid operational base, the bank now seeks to deepen its local ties.
Under the direction of Southern Colorado Market Director Alex Sullivan, Columbia Bank has successfully attracted a robust deposit base by offering a comprehensive range of financial services. These include treasury management, commercial card services, debt capital markets, foreign exchange banking, and commercial real estate lending.
Tory Nixon, the President of Columbia, expressed enthusiasm about this expansion stating, "Columbia Bank has seen tremendous momentum in Colorado Springs even without a physical location, which speaks to the strength of this market and the relationships we've built here." He emphasized that the new commercial office and retail branch would enhance the bank's ability to foster long-term relationships with local businesses.
Growth Since Entering the Market
Columbia Bank launched its Colorado operations in 2022 with Mountain West Regional Director Shawn Thompson at the helm. Since then, it has steadily expanded, recently opening its first retail branch in Colorado in 2025. The bank now boasts four locations between Denver and Colorado Springs, with Columbia Private Trust managing $19 billion in assets, also based in Denver.
Alex Sullivan is set to lead the Colorado Springs Commercial Banking Center, bringing a wealth of experience from his previous roles at UMB Bank. Notably, he was instrumental in the City of Champions economic development initiative, which saw the creation of several sports and entertainment venues in Colorado Springs. Under his leadership, Columbia has tailored its approach to meet the unique needs of local businesses, ensuring a personalized banking experience that appeals to a wide range of customers.
Strategic Location in the Downtown Trolley District
The new bank location is situated in the vibrant downtown Trolley District, occupying a spacious 5,500-square-foot facility that encompasses both commercial and retail banking services. The grand opening celebration, which took place on July 15, welcomed community members keen to learn more about Columbia's offerings.
Operating hours for this location are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, reassuring customers of ample accessibility to the bank's services.
