Celebrating 50 Years of Healthcare Excellence: FHIMA's Annual Convention
The Florida Health Information Management Association (FHIMA) is gearing up for a significant milestone in 2026 as it proudly celebrates its 50th Annual Convention, scheduled from July 12–15 at the luxurious JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa. This prestigious gathering will draw hundreds of healthcare professionals, including executives, clinicians, educators, students, policymakers, and industry leaders from Florida and beyond.
This year's theme,
"Reach for the Stars," signifies not just a celebration of five decades of educational excellence but also an encouragement to embrace innovation in the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare. With over
48 educational sessions, the convention will offer attendees the opportunity to earn up to
18 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) across various important topics such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, health information management, compliance, clinical documentation, and data analytics.
Among the array of speakers lined up for this convention, attendees can anticipate insights from nationally recognized professionals. Notably,
Dr. Rachael Seidler, the Director of the Astraeus Space Institute at the University of Florida and NASA Human Research Program investigator, will shed light on topics related to neuroscience and the future of health. Additionally,

One of the highlights will be the UF Health Mobile Stroke Unit, a pioneering mobile treatment facility that underscores the importance of rapid diagnosis and care in improving stroke outcomes. Participants will be able to tour this specialized unit and learn from experts, including Dr. Anna Y. Khanna, MD, Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Florida.
A unique aspect of this year’s event is FHIMA's partnership with
Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses, providing attendees with an opportunity to interact with these therapy animals known for delivering comfort and emotional support to patients and communities.
