Markus Holm Joins Stegra as Chief Financial Officer Starting March 2026

Stegra Appoints Markus Holm as CFO

Stegra, a company focusing on green energy solutions, has announced the appointment of Markus Holm as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective March 1, 2026. This strategic move comes as current CFO Otto Gernandt transitions to a senior advisory role after more than five years with the company.

With two decades of extensive experience across various sectors including the processing industry, green energy, and start-ups, Markus Holm’s expertise makes him a fitting addition to the Stegra team. He has held significant roles in multinational corporations and has proven to be an effective leader in fast-paced start-up environments. Recently, he served as CFO and Board Member of Elcogen Group. Prior to this, he had pivotal roles at Sanoma Corporation, Metsä Board, and Metsä Tissue Corporation.

In making this announcement, Henrik Henriksson, CEO of Stegra, expressed confidence in Holm's leadership abilities, stating, "Markus' experience is a great fit for an industrial impact scale up company like Stegra. Beyond his extensive professional background, his values align with our leadership and team culture. We are thrilled to welcome Markus onboard."

Otto Gernandt, who will continue to support the company during this transition, has been a foundational member of Stegra since its inception in 2020. He has played a vital role in establishing the company’s financial strategies and commercial initiatives, particularly in pioneering the green steel market. Looking ahead, he will focus on ongoing funding initiatives as a senior advisor.

Gernandt's contributions have undoubtedly been influential in advancing Stegra's mission to develop sustainable energy solutions. In his remarks, Henriksson noted, "Otto has been with Stegra from the beginning and has played a leading role in the realization of our vision. We appreciate that he will continue to provide support as we complete the ongoing financing, and we wish him well in his future endeavors."

Founded in 2020, Stegra has made significant strides since starting its construction of an integrated plant for green hydrogen, green iron, and green steel in 2022. The company is currently deep into engineering processes and equipment installation, working diligently on the hydrogen area, iron area, and steel mill. Additionally, they are advancing the construction of a water treatment plant and an on-site power facility, while railway infrastructure is also being established at the site.

As the world increasingly shifts towards sustainable energy practices, Stegra stands out as a key player in this domain. The addition of Markus Holm to the executive team is anticipated to propel the company forward in its mission to innovate and lead in the green energy space.
