GAC’s Quark E-Drive Achieves First Dual Certification ASIL D

GAC’s Quark E-Drive Revolutionizes Automotive Safety

GAC Group has recently made headlines by achieving a significant milestone in vehicular safety and technology. Their innovative power domain control system, the Quark E-Drive, has become the world's first system to obtain dual certification for functional safety and information security that meets ASIL D standards, accredited by DAkkS, Germany's national accreditation body. This certification was evaluated and awarded by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd., a globally recognized certification authority.

Understanding ASIL D Certification

The ISO 26262 standard is critical in establishing guidelines for the functional safety of automotive systems. Within this framework, ASIL D represents the highest level of safety integrity—allowing for virtually no tolerance for critical safety failures. Therefore, obtaining this certification signifies that the certified product adheres to the most stringent automotive safety standards recognized worldwide.

The Quark E-Drive system has been in production since February 2025 and is currently being employed in various models under GAC's HYPTEC and AION brands. Remarkably, it is the first electrically driven power domain control system in the industry based on deep integration via a single main control chip, which notably reduces the number of required chips. This integration mitigates risks linked to chip-level failures and enhances motor controller efficiency to an impressive 99.9%.

Collaboration with Experts

To achieve this certification, the GAC Technology Research Center collaborated closely with experts from SGS throughout the project's lifecycle. Their efforts focused on fortifying safety designs at every stage of the development process, while also ensuring engineering feasibility and an optimal user experience. Zhao Hui, Vice President of SGS China, commented on the achievement, highlighting GAC's robust development systems and team and indicating a strong potential for future collaborations.

This accomplishment marks a pivotal advancement for GAC in the domain of electric vehicle safety, setting a new global standard for the burgeoning industry of smart electric vehicles. The Quark E-Drive is set to have a significant impact on the automotive landscape as manufacturers increasingly prioritize safety and efficiency in their electric vehicles.

Future Implications

As the electric vehicle market continues to evolve, certifications like ASIL D will play an essential role in ensuring that manufacturers meet rigorous safety standards. GAC's achievement not only elevates their reputation as a leader in vehicle safety technology but also encourages other manufacturers to strive for similar innovations. The emphasis on integrated safety solutions points to a future where vehicle technologies are more reliable and secure, ultimately enhancing consumer trust in electric vehicles.

In conclusion, the Quark E-Drive's dual ASIL D certification is not just a badge of honor for GAC; it represents a significant step forward for safety in the electric vehicle industry. As GAC leads the way, the ripple effect will inspire further advancements in safety protocols, ensuring that the future of autonomous and electric vehicles is both innovative and safe.
