Exploring Quzhou: A Historic City Embracing Modernity and Shared Prosperity

Quzhou: Bridging Heritage and Modernity

From August 6 to 7, the city of Quzhou in Zhejiang province was the first destination for the 'See China Together' tour, highlighting its journey towards shared prosperity and modernization. This initiative was designed to showcase the distinct cultural and historical roots of Quzhou, while also revealing the ongoing transformations that illustrate China's modernization efforts.

A diverse group of journalists from 11 different countries participated in the tour, including representatives from Spain, South Korea, Pakistan, Iceland, and Thailand. Accompanied by nearly 70 multilingual reporters and editors from CGTN, this vibrant delegation was eager to capture Quzhou's unique identity, rich heritage, and the palpable energy of its ongoing development.

A Tapestry of Experiences

During the visit, the group explored various noteworthy sites, each contributing to an intricate portrait of Quzhou's evolving identity. Their journey took them to locations such as Jinxing Village in Kaihua County, which exemplifies rural life, and Genyuan Town, known for its rich local culture. The Doolittle Raid Memorial Hall provided a somber yet fascinating glimpse into history, while the Shuitingmen Historic and Cultural Block showcased the architectural beauty of Quzhou within the Ancient City Cultural Tourism Area.

The visits also included stops at the Qujiang Port Area and the Meigao Short Drama Super Factory, both of which highlight advancements in local industry and social enterprise. Furthermore, the delegation explored the Zhejiang Yulaoda Agricultural Technology facility in Longyou County—an agritech hub that showcases innovations in agricultural practices. Together, these experiences collectively painted a vivid picture of Quzhou’s dynamic atmosphere.

Celebrating Cultural Heritage and Modern Development

Quzhou serves as a prime example of how cities can honor their historical roots while advancing towards a more modern and prosperous future. The 'See China Together' tour emphasized not only the tangible developments witnessed in urban landscapes but also the intangible cultural heritage preserved in rural areas. Every step taken by the journalists revealed stories of resilience, adaptation, and hope—qualities inherent to both the city's inhabitants and its historical context.

As the discussions unfolded among the diverse group of journalists, it became evident that Quzhou's identity is anchored in the harmonious coexistence of tradition and innovation. The momentum generated by these tours reflects a growing curiosity about how China is navigating the complexities involved in this delicate balance.

In conclusion, Quzhou represents more than just a destination on a map; it stands as a testament to the broader narrative of Chinese modernization and the quest for shared prosperity across both urban and rural landscapes. Tours like 'See China Together' foster understanding of these interconnections, enabling future visitors to engage with the profound richness of Quzhou's cultural tapestry and modern spirit.
