Tokyo's Corporate Sports Promotion Initiative Starting September 1

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is excited to announce the opening of applications for its Corporate Sports Promotion Initiative. This program is designed to motivate companies and organizations in Tokyo to engage in promoting sports among their employees while also contributing to society through sports-related activities.

Since the launch of this initiative in 2015, a growing number of around 650 companies have already been recognized as Corporate Sports Promotion Enterprises. This year, the application period starts on September 1 and will run until October 30. We encourage all companies committed to sports engagement to submit their applications.

Application Period

The initiative will officially accept applications from September 1, 2026, to October 30, 2026.

Eligible Participants

Eligible entities for this program include:

• - Corporations with their headquarters or branches located in the Tokyo area
• - General incorporated associations
• - Public interest incorporated associations
• - General foundations
• - Public interest foundations
• - Non-profit organizations (NPOs)

Example Initiatives

The program categorizes initiatives into two main areas:

1. Sports Implementation

This involves encouraging employee participation in various sports activities, such as:

• - Morning radio calisthenics sessions before work
• - Organizing walking events to promote physical activity

2. Sports Support

This focuses on social contributions in the sports sector, which can include:

• - Employing athlete staff members
• - Running sports workshops for local children
