The Games of the Future Abu Dhabi 2025, presented by ADNOC, has officially wrapped up after an exhilarating six-day event filled with high-octane competition that showcased cutting-edge sports and technology. Held from December 18 to 23 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi, the event turned into a significant hallmark of the burgeoning phygital movement, which is redefining the future of sports.

A Global Arena for Phygital Sports

The event attracted more than 850 participants hailing from over 60 countries, competing across 11 electrifying disciplines that highlighted the intersection of physical and digital sports. The Games not only emphasized inclusivity, welcoming competitors aged between 13 to 72, but also showcased an exciting mix of sports that appealed to a diverse audience.

Throughout the tournament, fans were treated to a series of standout moments blending technical prowess with extraordinary athletic talent. One of the most notable spectacles was the Battle of Robots, featuring 2.48 tons of robotic competitors brought to the UAE for this unique challenge. Additionally, esports events shined brightly, with titles like Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and Fortnite drawing crowds and enthusing fans at packed arenas.

Other fan favorites included innovative formats such as Phygital Football, where traditional gameplay met augmented experiences, alongside Phygital Basketball and Phygital Fighting events, with competitions like FATAL FURY setting new benchmarks for sports storytelling and engagement.

A Technological Marvel

The showcase also pushed the limits of technology in sports with events like Phygital Drone Racing, combining elite piloting skills with intense competition. For the first time ever in the Middle East, the VR-Game HADO Global Invitation captivated local fans, marking a significant milestone in the region's gaming landscape.

As the audience tuned in from all corners of the globe, the games were broadcast live via a dedicated OTT platform that offered coverage in more than 13 languages. The event generated massive online engagement, with hundreds of millions tuning in across various social media platforms and streaming sites, cementing its status as a cornerstone event in the phygital sports calendar.

The bidding process for host cities for future iterations of the Games has also been opened, signaling a broader global expansion for the event. Hatt added, “The transition of the Phygital Flame to Astana marks the next thrilling chapter for both the phygital movement and the Games of the Future.”
