Sweden House Wins Leading Company Award at Tokyo Eco Builders Awards 2025 for Sustainable Building Practices

Sweden House's Remarkable Achievement in Sustainable Construction

On November 21, 2025, Sweden House Co., located in Setagaya, Tokyo, proudly announced that it has once again secured the prestigious Leading Company Award at the Tokyo Eco Builders Awards for the year 2025. This marks the third consecutive year that the company has received this honor, reflecting its ongoing commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly building practices. This recognition is particularly significant as part of the larger initiative aimed at achieving zero emissions by 2050.

The Tokyo Eco Builders Awards were established in line with the Building Environmental Report System, which the Tokyo Metropolitan Government initiated earlier this year. The awards aim to honor companies that contribute to the proliferation of high-performance buildings that are environmentally conscious. Sweden House was selected as one of the top three companies for its exemplary practices and significant contributions toward building decarbonization.

Focus Areas of Recognition

The criteria for receiving the Leading Company Award include meeting specific environmental standards put forth in the Building Environmental Report System, as well as implementing effective strategies directed towards achieving the decarbonization of buildings. Key highlights of Sweden House’s efforts are as follows:

1. Sustainable and Valuable Housing: Sweden House proposes buildings that consistently meet the standards of Tokyo’s Zero Emission housing (specifically, a heat transfer coefficient, or Ua value, of 0.35W/㎡K or below, and a Building Energy Index, or BEI, of 0.55 or below). The company is dedicated to providing homes that maintain their asset values over time.

2. Energy Efficient Windows: In response to the rising summer temperatures, which have increased the period of air conditioning use, Sweden House adopts wooden sash triple-glazed windows as a standard feature. These windows are equipped with Low-E glass and argon gas, achieving an excellent solar heat gain coefficient (η value of 0.49%). In addition, the original external awnings developed by the company help to suppress solar heat gain during the cooling season, enhancing overall energy efficiency.

A special awards ceremony honoring the Leading Company Award winners is scheduled to be held on November 27, where Governor Yuriko Koike will present the award certificates. Moreover, Sweden House will showcase its achievements at the Decarbonization Expo at Tokyo Big Sight from December 10 to 12, alongside other award-winning companies.
