ICP DAS-BMP Unveils Innovative TPU Solutions at Medtec China 2025

The healthcare sector is witnessing a technological boom, and leading the way in medical-grade materials is ICP DAS-BMP, a Taiwan-based manufacturer specializing in thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The company is set to participate in Medtec China 2025, taking place from September 24 to 26 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. This event promises to showcase the latest advancements in medical technology, and ICP DAS-BMP is eager to present its extensive portfolio of TPU products designed for various medical applications.

A Focus on Biocompatibility and Safety

One of the highlights of ICP DAS-BMP's exhibit will be the low-migration ARP-B20 TPU. This innovative material is developed in compliance with ISO 10993 biocompatibility standards, making it ideal for 90-day implantation procedures. The low-migration feature significantly reduces the risk of additive migration during the heat-setting process, ensuring that medical devices, especially catheters, maintain a clean and smooth surface throughout their lifespan. Importantly, the ARP-B20 TPU is available in a variety of 15 colors, providing designers with ample flexibility to create custom solutions catering to specific clinical needs.

In addition to ARP-B20, ICP DAS-BMP will highlight a diverse range of TPU materials intended for multiple medical applications. The foundational products, such as Arothane™, Alithane™, and Durathane™ TPUs (ARP/ALP/ALC series), meet stringent requirements for most body-contact medical devices. This includes specific grades, like B20 and B40, that incorporate barium sulfate for improved imaging in medical applications. Notably, the Arothane™ ARP-B20 and Durathane™ ALC-B40 have successfully passed the ISO 10993-6, 13-week implantation test, substantiating their aptitude for use in long-term surgical implants.

Enhancing Device Performance and Versatility

For manufacturers focusing on thin-walled medical devices or guidewire coatings, the Arothane™ ARP-W and ARP-WG series, which contain 40-60% Tungsten, are highly recommended for their outstanding radiopacity. This property is essential for devices that require precise imaging during surgical procedures. Additionally, ICP DAS-BMP offers a soft ARP series TPU that boasts a hardness rating below 70A, providing both flexibility and mechanical strength to devices needing comfort and durability for patients.

Notably, the Engineering Arothane™ TPU, known as the EARP series, features a high glass transition temperature along with excellent light transmission qualities, which makes it a prime choice for orthodontic components, Luer-Lock connectors, and other precision medical devices. The comprehensive offerings of ICP DAS-BMP reflect the evolving demands of modern healthcare technologies and highlight the company’s dedication to innovation in medical materials.
