Vantage Markets Partners with Vantage Foundation to Empower Indonesian Women Drivers

In a significant step towards gender empowerment and economic inclusion, Vantage Markets, in collaboration with the Vantage Foundation, has launched the #TradeforHope initiative aimed at assisting Indonesian women through the Grab application program, known as Wiramudi Grab. This initiative has already impacted the lives of over 3,400 women across various Indonesian cities, equipping them with the necessary tools and funding to build sustainable livelihoods.

The program ran from November 2024 to January 2025 and achieved remarkable results. It successfully onboarded 1,400 new female drivers and reactivated 2,000 inactive ones in key cities such as Jakarta, Bali, Medan, Bandung, Makassar, Semarang, and Yogyakarta. Participants were provided with free driver equipment, including jackets and helmets, along with incentives aimed at encouraging their continued engagement in the labor market.

The economic effects of this initiative are tangible. Women who participated in the program reported a 13% increase in their ride metrics compared to those who did not receive support. More than just financial assistance, the program instilled a greater sense of confidence, independence, and community support among participants.

For example, participant Purwati expressed how the program transformed her life: "Participating in the Grab women drivers program has immensely helped me earn my own income and gain new skills. Moreover, we received great benefits like jackets, helmets, and even cosmetics! Such small gestures mean a lot. Thank you for the support!"

The Wiramudi Grab initiative exemplifies the power of corporate responsibility and strategic partnerships in improving the economic status and workforce inclusion of women. By removing entry barriers, the program has created avenues for thousands of women to generate sustainable income while promoting gender diversity within Indonesia’s transport sector.
