TECO Teams Up with BRIST to Unveil Advanced e-Axle Solutions at Busworld 2025

TECO Electric and BRIST Partnership at Busworld 2025

On October 4, 2025, TECO Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. (TWSE1504) made a significant entrance at Busworld Brussels by partnering with the well-known Italian axle manufacturer BRIST to present their innovative integrated e-axle solutions. This collaboration not only marks TECO's determination to penetrate the European commercial EV market, but also showcases their commitment to contribute to the ongoing transition towards electrified transportation globally.

Chairman Morris Li emphasized TECO’s dedication to advancing low-carbon mobility through innovative powertrains and charging technologies. He stated, “Our alliance with BRIST is aimed at enhancing TECO's presence and competitiveness in Europe.” The strategic partnership melds TECO's advanced oil-cooled hair-pin motor and inverter technologies with BRIST's extensive expertise in driveline systems, enabling the development of compelling e-axle solutions tailored for the diverse needs of electric buses.

The event saw the unveiling of two distinct e-axle modules meant for electric buses, tailored to accommodate various chassis configurations: a Parallel-Shaft E-Axle and a Wheel-Side E-Axle. This adaptability ensures that the solutions can cater to both high-floor and low-floor bus designs, meeting a wide array of commercial vehicle demands. TECO pointed out that these integrated e-axles can be deployed across several platforms, enabling automakers to enhance efficiency and hasten their time-to-market.

In furthering the advantages of the e-axle solutions, TECO highlighted their ability to lower mechanical losses, thereby reducing weight and noise—issues that original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) face regarding space and capacity limitations. By improving electric vehicle (EV) performance, TECO positions itself at the forefront of the electrification trend.

TECO's third-generation oil-cooled hair-pin motor technology was also showcased, boasting a peak efficiency exceeding 97.5%, with power output of up to 250 kW and torque of 580 Nm. Remarkably, the motor weighs in at under 62 kg, even with the included oil pump and cooling system, achieving power density rates that are 3 to 4 times higher than standard direct drive motors, rated at 4.1 kW/kg. This breakthrough demonstrates TECO's ability to provide solutions suitable for a range of vehicles, extending from larger e-buses to light commercial vehicles, and even off-road applications.

BRIST, with its proven track record in commercial vehicle driveline systems, will tailor the e-axle offerings to meet varied customer specifications. Their established sales network throughout Europe will significantly bolster the partnership’s market outreach.

Expanding its global presence, TECO's strong foothold in Taiwan covers 80% of the e-bus powertrain sector. Meanwhile, in North America, the company is targeting the e-bus and e-truck markets with a new assembly line for charging stations in Texas, alongside plans to commence mass production in India by the end of the year. Through its collaboration with BRIST and by leveraging events like Busworld, TECO is set to enhance its footprint across Europe, with particular focus on countries like Germany and Italy, all while building a comprehensive EV ecosystem on a global scale.

By introducing these advanced e-axle solutions at a significant industry event, TECO not only embraces innovation but also reinforces its strategy to support the shift towards sustainable transportation solutions. With partners like BRIST, the future of electric vehicles looks promising and dynamic, paving the way for greener urban transport options.
