Exciting Summer Treats: HOCUS POCUS Introduces Mochi Mango Donuts

Discover Summer Delights at HOCUS POCUS

HOCUS POCUS, the renowned donut specialty store, is set to unveil its latest summer creation, the Mochi Mango donut. Scheduled for release in July 2026, this delightful treat combines a chewy fried dough with chilled mango jelly, perfect for the hot summer days. Available exclusively at the Omotesando location for dine-in guests only, this donut promises to deliver a refreshing experience ideal for summer enjoyment.

The Mochi Mango Experience

The Mochi Mango donut, priced at ¥600 (tax included), features a soft and chewy fried dough coated in cool mango jelly. Upon the first bite, customers experience a delightful chill, followed by a deliciously chewy texture. The addition of coconut flakes provides a light crunch, while a hint of apple mint enhances the aftertaste. Due to the importance of serving it cold, this donut will only be available in-store at the Omotesando location, with no takeout option.

The dough used is specially crafted to incorporate plenty of air, resulting in a light and fluffy texture. A glance at the cross-section reveals numerous air bubbles, indicating a high ratio of air, contributing to its unique chewiness and fluffiness.

Collaboration with Unagi Kitahakukawa

In addition to the Mochi Mango donut, HOCUS POCUS is proud to announce a collaboration with Unagi Kitahakukawa, a renowned eel restaurant located in Nagatacho. This partnership introduces the “Summer Dojo Donut,” available from July 20 to August 6 during the Dojo period. This delicious donut will feature flavors that complement the essence of traditional unagi dishes, such as sansho pepper and yuzu.

At the Nagatacho location, customers can indulge in two regular sizes: Strawberry Sansho and Yuzu Grapefruit, each also priced at ¥600 (tax included). These unique donuts blend steamed dough with delightful flavors, inviting patrons to explore unexpected taste combinations.

Unique Flavors:

  • - Strawberry Sansho [Steamed]: This donut combines dry raspberries and strawberry liqueur in its steamed dough, topped with a strawberry icing and finished with crushed sansho. The match of sweet strawberries and the fragrant, citrusy note of sansho creates a memorable taste sensation.
  • - Yuzu Grapefruit [Steamed]: Featuring yuzu paste and semidried grapefruit in its steamed dough, this donut is drizzled with yuzu icing and garnished with a dried Kawachi Bankan, offering a delightful balance between the fragrant yuzu and the slight bitterness of the grapefruit.

On Unagi Day (July 26), customers can look forward to a special full-size Unagi Polenta, made from eel bones, promoting sustainable food practices. This limited-edition donut contributes to reducing food waste and showcases the innovative approach of HOCUS POCUS.

The Summer Dojo donut lineup includes four unique options, available as mini donuts for guests dining at Unagi Kitahakukawa, limited to 30 pieces per day (varieties change daily).

A Sneak Peek at July's Other Donuts

In addition to their summer offerings, HOCUS POCUS also features:
  • - Matcha Tonka [Baked] at ¥630 (tax included): Infusing Japanese matcha into a baked donut topped with white chocolate and tonka beans offers a delightful blend of traditional and contemporary flavors.
  • - Black Beer Cherry [Steamed] at ¥630 (tax included): This donut boasts a unique blend of bamboo charcoal and balsamic vinegar, soaked in black beer and topped with cherries, resulting in a rich and slightly bitter profile complemented by balsamic’s subtle notes.
