Envision Energy Partners with Kallista for 386-MWh Energy Storage Project in France
In a significant step towards advancing renewable energy infrastructure, Envision Energy, a global leader in green technologies, has partnered with Kallista Energy, a European renewable energy producer, to implement a 386 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Neuilly-en-Thelle, located in the Hauts-de-France region of France. This ambitious project marks a pivotal development in their ongoing collaboration, aiming to foster a robust and sustainable energy transition.
Construction began in early July 2026, with plans to operationalize the BESS by Spring 2028. This initiative builds upon the success of Envision Energy's first BESS project, the Saleux project, which commenced construction in 2025. The Neuilly-en-Thelle project not only strengthens the partnership between Envision and Kallista but also establishes a scalable framework for expanding energy storage capabilities across Europe.
Envision Energy is set to provide its advanced BESS solution and oversee the project throughout its life cycle, ranging from onsite maintenance to battery recycling after 25 years of operation. The system will utilize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells produced at Envision AESC's 10 GWh gigafactory in the Hauts-de-France region. This local production aspect facilitates system integration, enhancing regional industrial capacities and bolstering the resilience of the energy infrastructure in the area.
Once operational, the storage system will deliver essential flexibility services to the French grid, including frequency regulation via RTE’s reserve markets, which will assist in balancing supply and demand within the electricity network. With a capacity sufficient to meet the daily demand of 30,000 households, the project is positioned to significantly enhance grid stability, support increased integration of renewable energy sources, and aid in the ongoing electrification efforts across France.
