Concorde Career Colleges Celebrates National Children's Dental Health Month
Concorde Career Colleges is excited to announce its active involvement in National Children's Dental Health Month, a significant nationwide effort aimed at encouraging healthy dental habits among children. For the entirety of February, select
Concorde campuses will offer free dental services for kids aged 4 to 17, emphasizing the importance of preventive care in maintaining oral health.
According to the
American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, tooth decay stands as the most prevalent chronic disease affecting children, yet it is largely preventable. By nurturing good dental habits — such as daily brushing, flossing, consuming a nutritious diet, and scheduling regular dental check-ups — families can substantially mitigate the risk of tooth decay in their children.
With this initiative, Concorde seeks to support local communities while also providing invaluable hands-on experience for its dental hygiene students. “Concorde Career Colleges is committed to serving our communities, and these events provide a hands-on way for our students to make a difference while gaining important patient care experience,” shared Kevin Prehn, Division President of Concorde Career Colleges.
From
February 12 to 17, 2025, designated campuses will host various free dental care events. Children can benefit from services such as x-rays, dental cleanings, and will receive complimentary dental kits equipped with essential oral care items. Additional services like sealants and health screenings will also be provided at selected campus locations. All procedures will be conducted by Concorde dental hygiene students under the careful supervision of licensed professionals and experienced faculty members. Furthermore, Concorde's dental assistant students will also support certain events.
The participating Concorde campuses include:
- - Making Miramar Smile: Miramar, Florida | February 12 and 13, 2025
- - Making Tampa Smile: Tampa, Florida | February 17, 2025 (in partnership with FRIENDS West Florida for children with disabilities)
- - Making San Diego Smile: San Diego, California | February 17, 2025
- - Making Orange County Smile: Garden Grove, California | February 17, 2025
- - Making San Antonio Smile: San Antonio, Texas | February 17, 2025, ongoing throughout February
- - Making Dallas Smile: Dallas, Texas | All of February, appointments through 469-221-3454
Additionally, Concorde’s dental hygiene programs in
Kansas City and
Aurora are participating in the national
Give Kids a Smile program throughout February. Partnerships with organizations such as
Heartland Dental,
PDS Health, and
Liberty Dental Plan will further enrich the offerings at the various participating campuses. Families who attend these events will depart with critical oral care materials and a deeper understanding of the importance of prevention in dental health.
Beyond the observance of National Children's Dental Health Month, Concorde is dedicated to increasing access to dental care year-round. The 14 Concorde campuses that feature dental hygiene programs operate
Dental Hygiene Clinics open to the public providing low-cost preventive care. This initiative serves to address the unmet dental health needs of citizens, particularly for those who are uninsured or underinsured, spanning all ages and backgrounds.
