TrinaTracker Unveils SuperTrack
In a groundbreaking development within the photovoltaic industry, TrinaTracker revealed its SuperTrack technology, designed to significantly enhance solar energy generation capabilities. A recent webinar highlighted the insights from three leading experts in solar tracking technology, emphasizing the global application prospects of the system and its potential to revolutionize solar energy production.
The discussion featured contributions from TrinaTracker, Wood Mackenzie, a photovoltaic research institute, and PV Case, a provider of solar software solutions. During the webinar on November 27, participants shared data from a recently published white paper focusing on the SuperTrack system and its advanced smart control technologies.
Dr. Sun Kai, the intelligent control system lead at TrinaTracker, presented key findings from performance tests conducted in both China and Spain. These tests spanned over a year and aimed to optimize solar plant performance in heterogeneous terrain and challenging irradiance conditions. The results indicated that the intelligent tracking system, utilizing sophisticated algorithms, was capable of reducing shading between solar modules, resulting in increased energy generation.
Significant Performance Gains
According to the performance evaluation, the TrinaTracker’s smart control system yielded an average power generation increase of 2% to 4% in comparison to traditional systems. Most notably, during rainy and overcast conditions, energy output surged by over 10%. This enhancement reflects the growing demand for intelligent control technologies that not only improve energy efficiency but also ensure operational stability and comfort for project owners and management companies.
TrinaTracker also announced the launch of the industry's first cloud-based platform for solar trackers, facilitating remote monitoring and parameter adjustments. This innovation significantly reduces on-site labor requirements during operations and maintenance (OM), thereby streamlining the troubleshooting process and minimizing associated costs.
Global Demand for Intelligent Tracking
Joe Shangraw, an associate researcher at Wood Mackenzie, underlined the increasing global interest in intelligent tracking technologies. He noted that their demand exists across various regions, including mid to high latitudes, areas with low sunlight availability, and complex terrains. The ability of smart tracking systems to boost energy generation during early morning and late afternoon hours—when electricity prices are generally highest—further underscores the relevance of such technology in modern energy markets.
As the energy landscape evolves, TrinaTracker's SuperTrack offers a promising pathway to enhance solar power efficiency, meeting the energy demands of the future while supporting sustainable practices. The insights and data presented during the webinar not only provide a reliable reference for project stakeholders but also signify a pivotal moment in the solar tracker market, hinting at a growing trend toward intelligent and digitally integrated systems.
