Nordic Pharma, Inc. Introduces Innovative Lacrifill® Gel at AAO 2026 Conference

Nordic Pharma's Lacrifill® Canalicular Gel at AAO 2026

Nordic Pharma, Inc., a subsidiary of SEVER Life Sciences B.V., is set to unveil its groundbreaking Lacrifill® Canalicular Gel at the upcoming American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) 2026 conference, scheduled to take place from October 9 to 12 in New Orleans, Louisiana. This innovative therapy aims to regulate the ocular surface, presenting exciting new patient data and study outcomes related to patient experiences.

In recent years, the adoption of Lacrifill® by eye care professionals has expanded significantly. Currently, more than 2,200 ophthalmology and optometry practices across the United States are utilizing Lacrifill® for managing patients undergoing cataract or refractive surgeries. The gel has also shown promising results in alleviating symptoms and reducing the dependency on eye drops for those suffering from dry eye syndrome. To date, over 130,000 patients have benefited from this unique therapeutic approach.

According to a recent patient satisfaction survey conducted by Nordic Pharma, an overwhelming 96% of respondents who underwent cataract surgery within the last six months reported improved comfort in their eyes after using Lacrifill® Canalicular Gel. Additionally, 91% of all surveyed patients indicated a positive experience with the product, highlighting its efficacy in enhancing eye health and comfort.

Dr. Jai G. Parekh, the Chief Commercial Officer of Nordic Pharma, expressed the importance of the AAO conference, stating, “The AAO presents an exceptional opportunity for eye care professionals to learn about the latest advancements in ophthalmology and how they can enhance patient care. We are eager to present data that demonstrates the benefits of Lacrifill® Canalicular Gel, including heightened patient wellness and improved visual stability, both postoperatively and in treatments for dry eyes.”

Furthermore, patients experiencing dry eye syndrome have reported a noticeable decrease in their reliance on both prescription and over-the-counter eye drops, further underscoring the therapeutic potential of Lacrifill®.

Dr. David Szynkarski from Mann Eye Institute in Houston, Texas, elaborated on the significance of post-operative ocular surface monitoring following cataract surgery or refractive procedures. He stated, “The vast majority—83%—of patients who underwent surgery in the past six months and received at least one treatment with Lacrifill® reported reduced discomfort. This relief is crucial for supporting post-operative recovery, patient satisfaction, and overall quality of life.”

The Lacrifill® Canalicular Gel is FDA-approved for an application duration of up to six months, thereby ensuring sustained post-operative benefits that can enhance recovery for patients.

During the AAO conference, attendees can observe live demonstrations of Lacrifill® being applied at Nordic Pharma's booth (#3136) on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Participants will have the opportunity to directly place orders at the booth, further facilitating the outreach of this innovative therapy.
