Minesto Restructures to Enhance Customer Service and Project Efficiency in Tidal Energy Sector

Minesto Enhances Customer Service Through Organizational Changes

Minesto, a prominent player in the ocean energy sector, has recently unveiled a series of organizational changes designed to boost its customer service offerings and streamline project execution. This transformation is a strategic enhancement of Minesto's commercial readiness, particularly emphasizing its Dragon technology installations and operations.

Adaptive Organizational Strategy

The new structural changes involve a focus on site installations and operational management through customer-driven delivery projects. One such project is the Vestmanna Site Project, located in the Faroe Islands, where Minesto will implement its proprietary methods and technology. The company plans to leverage both internal expertise and external resources, which will enhance flexibility and operational efficiency.

Minesto’s Chief Technology Officer, Bernt Erik Westre, will oversee the integration of technology development related to Operations methods and tools into the Product Development process. This step signifies a move towards intertwining operational aspects with product advancement, ultimately aiming at optimizing technology, ensuring smooth project execution, and accelerating commercial deployment.

Focusing on Project-Based Approaches

The company is emphasizing a project-based approach to manage both onshore and offshore operations effectively. For instance, development projects like the Vestmanna site will transition into handover phases for customer operations. The primary goal is to retain core capabilities in developing bespoke tools, know-how, and methods that are indispensable for constructing and operating Dragon farms, with the Vestmanna site serving as a vital hub for development and training.

Dr. Martin Edlund, the CEO of Minesto, stated, "This project-based strategy allows us to adapt more efficiently to the unique requirements of our customers and specific sites. Furthermore, integrating Operations Development into Product Development significantly enhances the overall service offering, which includes spare parts, tools, and maintenance methods for kites."

Leadership Changes and Future Direction

In a related update, Johannes Hüffmeier, the current Chief Operating Officer responsible for Operations and Operations Development, is set to leave the company to explore opportunities outside of Minesto. Edlund acknowledged Hüffmeier’s contributions, particularly the successful demonstration of the Dragon Class technology to the international market. The company expressed gratitude for his efforts and wished him success in his future endeavors.

A Vision for the Future

The changes introduced by Minesto reflect its ongoing commitment to adapting to the dynamic energy landscape and addressing the increasing demand for sustainable tidal energy solutions in various global markets. As the company continues to evolve post-2025, its proactive strategy places it in a strong position to leverage the growing opportunities for Dragon-class tidal energy installations, fulfilling its mission of pioneering clean energy solutions.

By aligning its organizational structure with the technological advancements and market requirements, Minesto is poised to not only enhance customer satisfaction but also to contribute significantly to the future of renewable energy.
