Open House and Japan Post Host a Disaster Preparedness Event
On January 10, 2026, Open House Group, headquartered in Tokyo and led by CEO Ryosuke Fukuoka, collaborated with Japan Post to host an event titled "Parent and Child Disaster Preparedness Plaza in Osaka" at Aeon Mall Dainichi. This event marks 31 years since the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake and aims to ensure that the lessons from this disaster are not forgotten while also preparing for potential future earthquakes, particularly the Nankai Trough earthquake. Over 500 visitors, primarily families, attended the event, showcasing a strong community interest in disaster readiness.
The event featured numerous booths from various organizations, including eight other corporate partners and government agencies such as Ezaki Glico, the Osaka Prefectural Crisis Management Office, Otsuka Pharmaceutical, Saraya, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Fire and Disaster Management Agency, SoftBank, the city of Moriguchi, and Watts Co., Ltd. Each exhibit offered unique educational initiatives for disaster preparedness.
Open House Group's booth featured a disaster training game developed by its subsidiary Mondrian Inc., located in central Tokyo. The game, called "5-Minute Escape," utilizes the popular platform Roblox to provide a fun way for children to learn about disaster preparedness. Many young attendees enthusiastically participated, making learning both enjoyable and informative.
The event also included a talk show featuring Yoshimoto comedians Fujisaki Market and disaster preparedness educator Span!. They engaged the audience in discussions about disaster safety, demonstrated the use of an AED (automated external defibrillator), and invited participation in disaster-themed games, creating an interactive learning environment. Representatives from the various exhibitors also led enlightening discussions showcasing their unique contributions to disaster awareness.
This event is a sequel to the first edition of the “Parent and Child Disaster Preparedness Plaza,” which took place in Tokyo on August 31 and September 1, 2025. Open House Group, which specializes in housing related to earthquake resilience, promotes public safety by installing damping systems to reduce seismic impacts and ensuring adequate road widths for emergency vehicle access, thereby enhancing overall disaster readiness in community infrastructure.
Building on the success of this event, Open House plans to continue its commitment to social responsibility by regularly organizing disaster awareness events in collaboration with local governments and businesses. By making disaster preparedness approachable and accessible, Open House aims to promote community resilience and create environments where families feel secure. Plans for the next event in Tokyo are already underway, with the intention of reaching a wider audience to communicate the significance of disaster readiness and safety awareness.
Through this series of events, Open House Group aspires to contribute to the development of communities where residents can live with confidence, reinforcing the importance of disaster preparedness in everyday life.
