The online landscape photography store, FROM_SOMEWHERE, operated by KAFUL under CEO Hiroki Shiraishi, has embarked on a fresh initiative to introduce broader experiences related to the joy of showcasing art in personal spaces. Following a significant website renewal in April 2025, the store aims to deliver the allure of travel and the freedom to decorate to a more extensive audience.

Expanding Horizons with New Photographers

To kick off this exciting venture, FROM_SOMEWHERE is welcoming six talented photographers, each bringing unique perspectives and sensibilities to the platform. This diverse lineup not only enriches the collection but also encourages encounters with photographs that can inspire wanderlust and memories.

Each individual's attraction to a particular landscape, as well as intimate memories associated with it, can vary widely. Therefore, the incorporation of various viewpoints will create more profound connections and opportunities for visitors to discover artwork that resonates with them.

The newly added photographers, arranged alphabetically, include:

1. Kana Kurata
Kurata's photos invoke a serene feeling, encouraging viewers to pause and reflect on the beauty captured in everyday moments.
- Biography: Born in 1995 in Aichi Prefecture, Kurata began working as a photographer in 2021.

2. Myra Toyo Shimada
Shimada’s work showcases vibrant contrasts that emerge when viewed side by side, drawing the viewer deeper into her storytelling through photography.
- Biography: Originally from Sydney, Australia, she now works in Tokyo, documenting moments that reflect strong narratives across lifestyle photography.

3. Nathalie Cantacuzino
Cantacuzino’s poetic images evoke nostalgia, intertwining subtle hues and atmospheres that transport viewers into a story-like realm.
- Biography: A Tokyo-based photographer since 2009, she captures diverse subjects from interiors to nature with a distinct documentary style.

4. Rintaro Kanemoto
Known for his unique color palettes and perspectives, Kanemoto engenders a fun and positive experience for viewers, inviting them to explore landscapes imaginatively.
- Biography: Kanemoto, born in Hiroshima in 1998, became a freelance photographer in Tokyo post-graduation in 2020 and has worked widely across various media.

5. Saki Shibata
Shibata’s genuine sensitivity and accompanying narratives offer warmth and a pure perspective that resonates deeply with audiences.
- Biography: She emphasizes the significance of moving hearts through travel, recently engaging with local communities in Nepal to gather meaningful experiences.

6. Yudai Moroi
Moroi’s dual identity as a photographer and a traveler brings a unique balance to his evocative imagery, leaving viewers curious about what landscapes he will unveil next.
- Biography: Born in 2000 and based in Kamakura, Kanagawa, he initially worked in a visual production company before transitioning to freelance photography.

New Initiative: The 'ikkaku' Project

In conjunction with these new photographers, FROM_SOMEWHERE has also launched the ‘ikkaku’ project, a feature within its owned media, Out of Frames. This initiative focuses on the significance behind the act of decorating, exploring personal spaces filled with items of cherished value—be it photographs, artwork, or objects.

Through various stories shared by participants, the project aims to highlight how objects in display can evoke positivity, memories, and a stronger sense of identity. Just as one can discover that decorating is a liberating and enjoyable process, the project invites conversations about the meaning behind chosen pieces.

Contributing to a Richer Experience

Featured in this release is photographer Saki Shibata, who shared insights into her favorite decorative spot, where a blend of her artistic expressions intertwines with meaningful memories. Shibata’s workspace contains items such as handmade pots, stones from her travels, and even artifacts like Tibetan ting-shas.

‘Out of Frames’ will continue to shine a light on various individuals and their personal spaces, fostering a warm community that understands the value of art.
