SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025: A Landmark Event for Sustainable Innovation
The highly anticipated
SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025 event concluded on a triumphant note, boasting record attendance and participation from various sectors. From
May 8 to 10, Tokyo Big Sight became the hub for discussions on sustainable urban development, aiming to harness technological advancements for impactful solutions.
Record-Breaking Attendance
This year marked a significant milestone, with an impressive
57,698 attendees from
over 100 countries and regions, including city officials, startups, venture capitalists, investors, and concerned citizens. This diverse mix served as a catalyst for innovation that promises to extend beyond Japan’s borders.
In particular, the participation statistics were remarkable:
- - 607 startups exhibited their innovations, reflecting an increase of 173 compared to the previous year.
- - The number of overseas venture capitalists and investors reached 506, an upsurge of 108.
- - A total of 615 speakers participated, marking a 459 increase from the last event.
These numbers indicate a thriving environment for dialogue and collaboration across various sectors, with
148 sessions conducted to explore the future of urban evolution from multiple perspectives.
Extensive Business Matchmaking Success
The event also witnessed a staggering number of business meetings, totaling
6,136 over two days, setting a new record. This heightened level of interaction between startups, venture capitalists, government representatives, and major corporates not only facilitated networking but laid the groundwork for future collaborations and business ventures.
Global Pitch Contest Draws Wide Participation
Another highlight was the
SusHi Tech Challenge 2025, which attracted
657 applicants from 46 countries. The grand prize of ¥10 million was awarded to
3D Architech Inc., representing the drive for innovation on a global scale.
Promoting Diversity and Representation
The event also championed diversity, with
45% of speakers being women and
50% coming from international backgrounds, underscoring a commitment to inclusive dialogue. With sessions covering topics such as sustainability, AI, quantum technologies, urban policies, and entrepreneurship support, the conference addressed some of the most critical issues of our time.
Engaging the Next Generation
On the newly introduced Public Day, families and students flocked to the event, eager to engage with visions of future cities and advanced technologies. An astounding
35% of visitors were below the age of 10, and
29% were in their 20s and 30s. The presence of youth at the event highlighted a growing interest and hopeful anticipation for the future. Interactive exhibits focusing on robotics, mobility, and food technology succeeded in igniting curiosity and educational passion among attendees.
