Bioretec Moves Towards Enhanced Efficiency

In a strategic move aimed at improving its competitive stance and operational efficiency, Bioretec Ltd has announced the initiation of change negotiations under the Finnish Act on Co-operation within Undertakings. The discussions, which are set to begin on June 8, 2026, will focus on optimizing the company’s production functions located in Finland.

The negotiations are projected to last for around two weeks and will involve 12 employees from Bioretec’s production staff. The potential outcomes of these negotiations could affect the employment terms of up to four individuals, with possible measures including employment terminations. Bioretec aims to achieve significant annual cost savings of approximately EUR 0.2 million, in addition to a previously identified cost-saving target of EUR 0.4 million communicated during earlier discussions in November 2025.

The company revealed that past investments in production have turned out to be excessive relative to the business developments experienced. In November 2025, Bioretec went through change negotiations that led to one employee's termination and the temporary layoff of five others. However, the management believes that these earlier measures alone won't suffice to align production capabilities with current business volumes. Hence, the initiation of new discussions is deemed necessary to further adjust the company's cost structure.
