Mews and Uber Join Forces to Streamline Hotel Ride Bookings and Enhance Guest Experience

In a groundbreaking partnership, Mews, the hospitality operating system, has teamed up with Uber to integrate ride bookings directly into hotel management systems. This integration aims to transform the way guests book transportation during their stay, allowing hotels to offer ride services as part of a comprehensive guest experience rather than as a separate transaction.

This collaboration emerged as hotels seek to provide a seamless stay for their guests while boosting their own revenue streams by tapping into the transportation service market. Many guests often request transportation suggestions and services, a task traditionally managed manually by hotel staff. A recent study by Mews highlighted that guests typically organize their own transport, spending an average of $50 per stay on external ride services. This spending occurs outside the hotel’s ecosystem, resulting in lost revenue.

With the new integration, hotels will have the opportunity to provide transportation bookings effortlessly through Mews. Staff will be able to request rides via a few clicks, track journeys in real-time, and handle payments all within the same platform. This simplifies the logistical process and enhances guest satisfaction by ensuring that staff can manage all aspects of a guest’s stay, including transportation, without hassle.

During the event Mews Unfold, held in Amsterdam on May 27, speakers from both Mews and Uber were set to discuss how this technological integration is shaping the future of guest experiences in hotels. Christophe Peymirat, Senior Director of Uber for Business EMEA, underscored the importance of connecting Uber’s services with Mews’s platform to enhance visibility and control for hoteliers, improving their operational efficiency.

The changes are not only beneficial for guests, but also for hotel staff. By streamlining the transportation booking process for hotel employees—particularly for night shifts or last-minute ride requests—hotels can ensure their team members have reliable and stress-free rides home, ultimately fostering a more satisfied workforce.

The functionalities planned for this integration include:
1. Ride bookings initiated by both staff and guests through Mews’s platform, enhancing accessibility and ease.
2. Real-time tracking of vehicles and automated travel confirmations to keep both guests and staff informed about their rides.
3. Automated billing directly to the guest’s account through Mews Payments, eliminating the need for manual reconciliation.
4. Complete visibility for hotels over transportation activities, providing full transparency of costs to guests.
5. Transportation usage analytics to help hotels better plan and manage their transportation services throughout the guest's stay.

Mike Coscetta, President of Mews, emphasized the significance of integrating Uber into the Mews operating system, allowing hotels to add transportation services to a unified guest bill. This approach transforms basic transportation needs into a fundamental part of the hospitality experience that hotels are ideally positioned to fulfill, yet have struggled to manage seamlessly.

The launch of the Mews and Uber integration is set for a pilot program later this year, with further details to be shared directly with Mews clients and partners.

The entire Mews Unfold program will be available to stream live for free, showcasing innovations such as the Uber industry vision scheduled for May 27 from 11:50 to 12:05 CET. Interested participants can register for this session on Mews’s website.
