BlackLine Welcomes Greg Hughes to its Board, Expanding Expertise in Business Software and Growth Strategies

BlackLine Welcomes Greg Hughes to the Board of Directors

On July 29, 2025, BlackLine, Inc. (Nasdaq: BL), the innovative financial operations platform designed for the future of CFO offices, announced the appointment of Greg Hughes to its board of directors effective July 25, 2025.

With decades of experience in enterprise software, Hughes brings a wealth of expertise in strategic transformation at scale, having recently served as the CEO of Veritas Technologies, a global leader in data protection and mission-critical software. Under his leadership, Veritas achieved remarkable success in rejuvenating annual recurring revenue (ARR), successfully transitioned to a subscription-based pricing model, and launched an extensive cloud business. This strategic transformation culminated in Veritas's merger with Cohesity, an AI-driven data security and management company, where Hughes continues to be an active board member.

Apart from his executive roles, Hughes also possesses substantial public board experience. He was a board member of LogMeIn, a publicly traded collaboration software company, from 2011 until 2017.

Hughes's appointment follows the addition of Sam Balaji, the former CEO of Deloitte Consulting, to BlackLine's board in June 2025. Together, Hughes and Balaji contribute decades of executive leadership experience in enterprise software, consulting, cybersecurity, and digital transformation, thereby enriching an already seasoned and dedicated board that plays a critical role in BlackLine's growth and innovation strategy.

Owen Ryan, Co-CEO and Board Chair of BlackLine, expressed excitement about Hughes joining the board, stating, "With Greg and Sam joining an already strong board, we are significantly amplifying our expertise in enterprise technology, global operations, and transformation at scale. The collective leadership and experience of our board is a powerful asset as we continue to execute our strategy and deliver long-term value for our clients and shareholders."

Therese Tucker, Co-CEO and Founder of BlackLine, added, "Greg’s track record in driving company growth and leadership during pivotal moments makes him the ideal addition for BlackLine. He understands what it takes to build and scale category-defining platforms, and I am thrilled to welcome him as we continue to innovate for the office of the CFO."

In his words, Hughes reflects on the promise of BlackLine, stating, "BlackLine has built a differentiated platform with significant future opportunities. It is an honor for me to join the board and I look forward to collaborating with the other members and the management team to drive the company’s strategy and support its ongoing momentum as a leader in financial operations."
