Huawei Unveils AI-Ready Data Storage Solutions at MWC 2025
At the 2025 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Huawei made headlines by introducing its groundbreaking AI-Ready data storage solutions. Peter Zhou, the President of Huawei's Data Storage Product Line, delivered an insightful keynote speech, highlighting how these innovations are poised to accelerate the transformation of telecommunications operators into technology-driven enterprises.
Zhou emphasized that various sectors are currently undergoing an AI-driven transformation, creating a data-centric era. Global operators are continually searching for ways to capitalize on this trend by monetizing applications in smart homes and digital factories. This shift brings forth more complex requirements for data storage, service capacities, and business models.
To address these challenges, Huawei's Data Storage division has introduced a suite of solutions. The AI-Ready data lake offers a means to break down data silos, rendering data more visible, manageable, and accessible. This is crucial for critical production workloads, as Huawei launched its next-generation all-flash converged storage, OceanStor Dorado, alongside the high-performance AI storage solution, OceanStor A Series. These offerings boast an impressive 100 million IOPS, ensuring financial-grade reliability and efficient AI training and inference capabilities. They can also support billions of daily billing services and robust mobile financial services.
In addition to this, Huawei's advanced object storage facilitates the integration of carrier services with cloud-native applications and AI. For large volumes of data, the new OceanStor Pacific all-flash scale-out storage solution ensures high density and low energy consumption, significantly managing costs associated with emerging services like live streaming and XR gaming.
Another notable launch from Huawei is the OceanProtect, a next-generation all-flash backup system. This storage solution features five times faster data recovery than industry counterparts, catering to services that require rapid emergency response and AI application development, thus safeguarding the value of every bit of data.
Throughout the adoption of AI, operators encounter multiple hurdles, including inefficient data engineering, inadequate platforms for developing effective AI models, prolonged data preparation times, sluggish model training, and convoluted application development processes. The Huawei DCS AI solution provides an extensive toolchain for AI, complemented by a containerized environment that accelerates the fine-tuning and large-scale deployment of AI models.
Moreover, Zhou introduced FlashEver, an innovative business model designed to maximize operator investments. This model offers a flexible and scalable architecture that allows for integrated updates to active network equipment, thereby addressing the evolved demands for investment.
Huawei's storage platform services deliver various purchasing options, maintenance guarantees, and an array of data storage solutions, ensuring high-quality experiences for clients. Zhou reaffirmed Huawei's commitment to ongoing innovation, focusing on laying the groundwork for AI-Ready data storage and future-proof storage solutions coveted by telecom operators.
The developments presented at MWC 2025 showcase Huawei's vision of empowering global operators with the tools needed to thrive in an increasingly data-driven landscape, where AI and innovative storage solutions are critical to future growth.
