Vectra Bank Colorado Welcomes Dominic Karaba as New Leadership

Vectra Bank Colorado is embarking on a significant journey with the appointment of Dominic Karaba as its new President and CEO, as announced on November 10, 2025. This transition not only marks a new chapter for the bank but also follows the retirement of previous leader Bruce Alexander, who dedicated 25 years to the institution.

Dominic Karaba comes to Vectra Bank with an impressive background, having held several senior management positions specifically in Commercial and Business banking across Colorado and various western markets. His latest role was as President and Chief Banking Officer for Veritex Bank in Dallas, Texas, and he also brought his experience from UMB Bank, where he served as President overseeing both Commercial and Specialty Banking.

Known for his strategic vision, Karaba has successfully navigated teams through challenging market situations. His strengths lie in delivering operational excellence and nurturing a culture of innovation within banking institutions. This commitment to high-level performance and community engagement puts him in an excellent position to lead Vectra Bank Colorado into its next phase of growth.

A Return to Colorado

For Karaba, this position represents a heartfelt return to Colorado, a place he and his family called home for 13 years. He has not only built personal connections in the region but has also actively participated in advancing local communities through organizations such as the Colorado Enterprise Fund and Make-A-Wish Colorado. His return is a testament to his dedication to uplifting communities and enhancing prospects for families across the state.

“I am thrilled to come back to Colorado, which feels like home,” Karaba expressed. “My wife and I have raised our children here and created lasting friendships. Leading Vectra Bank Colorado, an organization that echoes my passion for supporting local businesses and communities, is an honor.”

Vision for the Future

Harris H. Simmons, the Chairman and CEO of Zions Bancorporation, Vectra Bank Colorado’s parent company, expressed enthusiasm over welcoming Karaba into the leadership team. Simmons noted, “His dedication to serving and enhancing customer relationships aligns perfectly with our growth objectives in Colorado.”

Reflecting on the change, Bruce Alexander shared confidence in Karaba’s ability to guide Vectra Bank towards further success. “Dominic's leadership brings a wealth of knowledge about our market and aligns with the values that are critical for our continued growth,” said Alexander, emphasizing Karaba's community involvement and customer-first approach.

The official transition will take place on December 1, 2025, with cooperative efforts between Karaba and Alexander planned to ensure a seamless move.
