About Hiroshi Mikitani
Born in Kobe in 1965, Mikitani graduated from Hitotsubashi University in 1988 and began his career at the Industrial Bank of Japan (now Mizuho Bank). After earning his MBA from Harvard University in 1993, he founded Crimson Group in 1996 and established Rakuten, Inc. in 1997. Under his leadership, Rakuten has expanded to provide over 70 services in diverse fields, solidifying its position in various markets. Mikitani also serves roles such as the chairman of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and as the representative director of the New Economic Federation, an organization launched in June 2012.
