Support for Victims of the Kumamoto Earthquake

The recent Kumamoto earthquake has brought profound sorrow to those who lost their lives, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families. In the wake of this disaster, the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF), under the leadership of President Masayoshi Sakaguchi, is actively engaging in assistance efforts for affected individuals starting from August 5, 2026. This initiative includes special measures in their roadside assistance program alongside fee waivers for JAF members impacted by the earthquake.

Roadside Assistance Initiatives

Targeted Individuals:
Those personally affected by the earthquake can request assistance.

Affected Areas:
The services are available in Yatsushiro City, Hikawa Town, Uto City, and Uki City. Please note that the specified regions may change or expand as circumstances evolve.

Details of Service:
For JAF members, towing services for vehicles will be provided free of charge for up to 40 kilometers, beyond the usual complimentary range. Non-members can enjoy equivalent services, with a limit of 20 kilometers free for their vehicle towing. However, any services exceeding these distances will incur fees, which will include costs for parts and fuel.

Fee Waivers

JAF is also waiving certain fees for affected members:

- Reissue fee for JAF membership cards (tax included, 550 yen)
- Motor sports license renewal fee for 2026/2027
- Reissuing fee for motor sports licenses

Eligibility for Assistance
