MSI Unveils Scalable AI-vRAN Solutions with NVIDIA Technology at MWC 2026

At the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, MSI, a leading global provider of high-performance server solutions, unveiled its cutting-edge AI-vRAN solutions. These innovations aim to meet the evolving demands of next-generation telecommunications networks. MSI's AI-vRAN stack, integrated with GPU server solutions, is designed to embed artificial intelligence capabilities at the core of network operations, supporting increasing telecom workloads and accelerating the shift towards AI-driven mobile networks.

Advancing Telecommunications with AI

Danny Hsu, General Manager of MSI's Enterprise Platform Solutions, expressed, "AI is rapidly transforming the telecommunications landscape. MSI is focused on assisting operators in building scalable network architectures that support various applications, including voice, data, video streaming, and AI workloads through a unified infrastructure." This AI-powered vRAN architecture provides enhanced flexibility in deploying 5G and future 6G technologies, while also speeding up the time to market for new services.

To bolster AI-powered telecommunications networks, MSI is offering a unified AI-vRAN platform designed to simplify deployment across O-RAN, private 5G, and virtual RAN environments. This architecture allows operators to adopt AI-driven network functions while maintaining coherence between distributed and centralized infrastructures.

During MWC 2026, MSI presented several platforms, including the CG480-S6053 and the CG290-S3063. The CG480-S6053 supports dense GPU configurations for AI inference and acceleration workloads with high resource demands. Conversely, the CG290-S3063 is optimized for space- and energy-efficient deployments within a 2U chassis, making it suitable for distributed and edge network environments. Both platforms offer flexible configurations of GPUs, NICs, DPUs, and storage, enabling operators to optimize performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness across a consistent infrastructure.

Additionally, the 2U CX271-S4056 platform supports balanced data processing for AI workloads, addressing scenarios where processing efficiency and system equilibrium are crucial. A standout feature of MSI's AI-vRAN solution is the dynamic GPU allocation, permitting resource assignment between 5G communication and AI workloads based on real-time demand. By supporting base station and edge AI functions within the same infrastructure, the platform allows for simultaneous processing of RAN and AI workloads, enhancing compute utilization.

The integrated software support guarantees that AI services can be deployed and operated efficiently at the network edge. MSI’s portfolio encompasses a scalable range of GPU-accelerated server configurations, from 2 to 8 GPUs, to cater to diverse implementation requirements in wireless access, metropolitan edge, core network, and centralized cloud environments. This flexibility enables telecommunications operators to align system configurations with workload-specific demands while simultaneously optimizing performance and operational efficiency.

Built upon NVIDIA MGX architecture, MSI’s AI platforms have demonstrated reliability and scalability, proven through widespread adoption in AI data centers worldwide. MSI is extending this established architectural approach to the telecommunications sector, applying data center-class computing principles to meet the shifting performance, scalability, and efficiency needs of next-generation mobile networks.
