Western Midstream Partners to Acquire Aris Water Solutions
In a groundbreaking announcement, Western Midstream Partners, LP (WES) has revealed its definitive agreement to acquire Aris Water Solutions, Inc. for a transaction valued at approximately $1.5 billion. This strategic merger is not only expected to enhance WES's existing produced-water systems in the Delaware Basin but also positions the company as a formidable player in the water solutions industry.
The acquisition aims to create a distinctive water system for produced water, significantly boosting WES’s capability to attract new business development prospects. With this merger, WES intends to construct a fully integrated value chain that encompasses water gathering, disposal, recycling, and even beneficial reuse, including desalination and mineral extraction.
Expansion and Strategic Benefits
Clinching this acquisition will notably extend WES’s footprint in New Mexico, tapping into one of the most rapidly advancing segments of the Permian Basin. The integration of Aris’s existing infrastructure, which includes 790 miles of produced-water pipeline and 1,800 MBbls/d of handling capacity, complements WES’s operations — which already boast around 830 miles of pipeline and expansive disposal capabilities.
