Bears Partners with Kumamoto City to Enhance Household Support Services

Bears Partners with Kumamoto City for Household Support

Since its establishment in October 1999, Bears, headquartered in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, has actively promoted partnerships with local governments in child-rearing support initiatives. Starting July 1, 2026, Bears will participate as a service provider for the "Postpartum Home Help Service" project in Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

In March 2026, Bears opened its 12th branch nationwide and the third in Kyushu, a significant step toward expanding its household support services. This collaboration with the Kumamoto City government marks a quick realization of its mission to strengthen community child-rearing support, increasing the number of municipal collaborations Bears partakes in to 28 across Japan.

A New Support Infrastructure for Parenting

The perception of household chores and parenting is shifting from a personal responsibility to a shared societal duty. Increasingly, government policies aimed at addressing declining birth rates and promoting women’s active roles have recognized household support as a vital part of daily living infrastructure. In Kumamoto City, as dual-income households increase, local initiatives are actively promoting a supportive environment for child-rearing.

A 2025 survey conducted by Baiers' Japan Living Research Institute revealed that about 90% of users of municipal household support services felt satisfied, reporting increased mental well-being and physical relief. During the vulnerable postpartum period, the assistance of a helping hand not only eases the burden but also serves as an essential connection and care infrastructure that fights isolation and exhaustion, helping to restore daily life and emotional balance.

In the postpartum support initiative in Kumamoto City, Bears will leverage its accumulated knowledge through collaborations with municipalities, providing safe, reliable, and empathetic household support services tailored to the needs of families during this critical time.

Details about the Service

The "Postpartum Home Help Service" in Kumamoto City sends home helpers to families struggling with household chores and childcare due to health issues during pregnancy, complications from multiple births, or other challenges.
