Slovakia Travel Expands Marketing Reach with New Nordic Representation
On January 16, 2025, Slovakia Travel officially opened its latest foreign representation in the Nordic countries, aiming to promote Slovakia as an attractive travel destination. The launch event took place in Helsinki, Finland, shortly before the start of Matka 2025, Scandinavia’s largest travel fair, which features significant participation from major tour operators and national tourism agencies from across the region and globally.
The Scandinavian countries—Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark—join a growing list of regions such as the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Israel, where Slovakia Travel plans to increase its focus on showcasing Slovakia's tourism offerings.
Ivana Vala Magátová, General Director of Slovakia Travel, emphasized the importance of a permanent presence in Scandinavia led by their colleague Daniela Bezáková. She articulated the goal of revitalizing connections between Slovakia and these Nordic nations, believing that joint efforts will eventually draw more visitors to Slovakia’s diverse attractions.
The Slovak Ambassador to Finland, Dušan Krištofík, expressed his support for Slovakia Travel’s initiative, stating, "It is always a great honor to witness events that unite not only countries but also their citizens. Despite the geographical distance between Scandinavia and Slovakia, our nations have come closer together in recent years, which is a crucially positive development for tourism."
Slovakia's summer tourism seat from Scandinavians primarily revolves around the Bratislava region, where visitors typically spend an average of two nights. Magátová pointed out that there’s tremendous potential for growth in inbound tourism from these Nordic countries. She highlighted how strategic promotional activities will likely encourage more tourists to explore Slovakia.
Slovakia Travel's primary mission is to foster tourism development in both local and international markets. By actively engaging in the Nordic tourism sector, they aim to increase visibility for Slovakia while also fostering deeper cultural connections and economic ties between the nations. Through this representation, Slovakia hopes to engage with the Nordic market more deeply, introducing new travel packages and cultural experiences to entice visitors.
