Action sports footwear and apparel brand Vans has partnered with renowned Dutch artist Piet Parra for their second collaboration, introducing the distinctive “OTW by Vans x Parra Old Skool 36.” Scheduled to launch on January 22, 2026, this shoe symbolizes the evolution of Vans' premium line, OTW by Vans.

A Journey Through Skate and Art

Parra, known for his vibrant and surreal artwork, initially made a name for himself in the early 1990s as a professional skateboarder supported by Vans. This unique collaboration marks a full circle in their history, merging Parra's artistic vision with Vans’ skateboarding heritage. The Old Skool 36 has been reimagined through Parra's lens, fusing art and the essence of skate culture into a remarkable piece.

Unique Design Elements

Constructed with a soft suede upper, the shoe showcases Parra's signature wavy color-blocking and asymmetrical details that create a minimal yet sophisticated look. The design is further enhanced with playful typography on the custom tongue label and distinct insoles, which feature the message, “Don’t forget to skate in these.” This shoe encapsulates the convergence of art, skate culture, and timeless design.

Collection Availability

This exclusive collaboration will be available for purchase on Vans' official online store, Vans Store PARCO Shibuya, and the by Parra official online store, along with other authorized OTW by Vans retailers, making it accessible to fans and collectors alike.

About Piet Parra

Piet Parra, born Pieter ‘Parra’ Janssen in 1976, is an acclaimed artist celebrated for his surreal, bird-like characters and vibrant color palette. Initially gaining fame through hand-drawn lettering and humor, Parra’s works have evolved into layered, abstract expressions. He has exhibited extensively in Asia, America, and Europe, earning recognition not only in gallery circles but also from enthusiastic underground supporters. His unique visual language spans various media, including painting, drawing, textiles, and large-scale public sculptures. Notably, some of his works are included in the public collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).

In addition to his artistry, Parra is a co-founder of the apparel label “by Parra” and actively participates in music projects such as “Le Le” and “MICH.” Currently based in Amsterdam, Parra continues to create innovative works that resonate within the art community.
