Cosmo Films Enhances US Operations with New Slitter Rewinder

Cosmo Films Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Cosmo First Limited, recently announced a significant expansion of its operations in North America with the installation of a new high-speed slitter rewinder. This state-of-the-art 120” wide machine can operate at an impressive rate of 3000 feet per minute, effectively streamlining the company’s capacity to deliver flexible packaging solutions to its customers across the continent.

The strategic investment is poised to drastically reduce customer wait times for orders. Previously, customers faced delivery waits of 2-3 months; now they can expect their orders to be fulfilled within just 10 to 15 days. This dramatic improvement will enable clients to manage their inventory better and lower warehousing costs through just-in-time delivery options.

The placement of the new slitter rewinder at Cosmo Films' Carol Stream warehouse in Chicago exemplifies the company's commitment to supporting the growing demand for flexible packaging, especially in sectors such as food, personal care, and pharmaceuticals. The North American flexible packaging market is projected to witness substantial growth, expanding from $84.9 billion in 2025 to $123.07 billion by 2034. This growth is being fueled by a rising need for lightweight, sustainable, and customizable packaging solutions, making Cosmo Films’ new installation well-timed to meet this increasing demand.

Mr. Kulbhushan Malik, Global Business Head of Cosmo Films, emphasized the importance of this expansion, stating, "Our continued growth in the United States is a strategic priority for us. This investment not only bolsters our customer service capabilities but also creates value for our stakeholders by optimizing our supply chain."

Designed to work with various substrates such as BOPP, CPP, BOPET, and PETG films, the new slitter rewinder boasts razor-sharp accuracy and high-speed capabilities. By leveraging this technology, Cosmo Films will be able to offer aesthetically-pleasing, eco-friendly, and flexible packaging formats including sachets, pouches, and wraps. These packaging solutions are in high demand among North America’s rapidly evolving food, beverage, and healthcare industries.

Mr. Sandeep Dutta, President of North America at Cosmo Films, shared, "Over the years, we've established ourselves as trusted partners for U.S. businesses, delivering quality products alongside necessary technical support. We pride ourselves on our versatility and ability to develop new films that meet the ever-changing needs of our clients. This new installation serves as an extension of our overseas manufacturing capabilities, allowing us to cater to industry demand with both speed and reliability."

As these developments and investments continue, Cosmo Films is keenly focused on strengthening its presence within the global market while positioning itself as a reliable supplier of high-quality packaging films and solutions. As a testament to its innovative capabilities, the company previously inaugurated a high-speed BOPP line in India, which further showcases its commitment to technology and excellence in product delivery.

Founded in 1981, Cosmo Films has grown into a multinational conglomerate recognized globally for its specialty films used in packaging, laminating, and labeling applications. The company exports its products to over 100 countries and operates in the U.S. through Cosmo Films Inc. Today, the company boasts 10 BOPP lines, 1 BOPET line, and 3 CPP lines, accompanied by various high-quality metallizers and chemical coating lines that enhance its diverse range of specialty films.

In addition to its ongoing innovations, Cosmo Films plans to further advance its portfolio to include areas beyond flexible packaging, including specialty chemicals, rigid packaging, and automotive paint protection films. By continually investing in technology and sustainability, Cosmo Films is not only addressing packaging needs in real-time but also enhancing the overall consumer experience across various sectors.
