109 Cinemas Osaka Expo City Celebrates 10th Anniversary



109 Cinemas Osaka Expo City, located within EXPOCITY in Suita, Osaka, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this November with an exciting range of activities and special events. Operated by Tokyu Recreation, the cinema has been a premier destination for movie lovers in the Kansai region, featuring Japan's only IMAX Laser and GT technology.

Special Campaign: IMAX® 10-Year Masterpieces



As part of the anniversary celebrations, 109 Cinemas is launching a unique campaign named "IMAX® 10-Year Masterpieces! Predict the Top 10 Box Office Hits!". From now until November 30, moviegoers can participate and guess the top 10 IMAX films from the past decade based on attendance figures. Those who correctly identify all films and their orders will receive a special invitation ticket, adding an extra layer of excitement to this celebratory event.

Response Form

Filmmaker-Requested Showings



In response to popular demand, the cinema will also host 'IMAX Laser / GT Technology Request Screenings' featuring crowd favorites such as Interstellar and How to Train Your Dragon. The former will be screened from November 14 to November 20, excluding November 19, while the latter will run from November 22 to November 27. Each screening will maintain a ticket price of 2,100 yen, with an option to use movie tickets for How to Train Your Dragon.

  • - Interstellar: November 14–20 (Closed on November 19)
  • - How to Train Your Dragon: November 22–27

Tickets will be available two days before each screening on their official site: 109 Cinemas Osaka Expo City.

Taroman Festival



On November 8, 2025, a unique showcase titled "Taroman Full Screening Festival" will bring together both the classic TV series and a feature film, featuring appearances by Taroman and director Ryo Fujii. This event will have two screening formats.

1. TV Series Only: This shows the episodes without breaks, ending by 13:50.
- Schedule: 11:45 Preview, 11:51 TAROMAN Special Feature (50 minutes), 10-minute history recap, 29 minutes of 'Goodbye Taroman', followed by questions and answers.

2. TV Series and Film Combo: This includes all previous content and a special feature presentation where the audience can cheer aloud during the film.
- Schedule: Starts at 14:50.

Tickets for these events go on sale from October 31, accessible on the same site. Here are the prices:
1. TV Series Only:
- Adults/University Students/Seniors: 2,000 yen
- High School Students and Younger: 1,000 yen
2. Combined Screening:
- Adults/University Students/Seniors: 3,500 yen
- High School Students and Younger: 2,000 yen

Exclusive Popcorn Flavors



To further commemorate the anniversary, the cinema will introduce 10 exclusive popcorn flavors, including Salt, Caramel, BBQ, Honey Butter, Strawberry, Crunchy Tomato, Takoyaki, Black Pepper, Curry, and Plum Bonito. These flavors will be available starting November 19 for a limited time, while supplies last.
