Supporting Marriage and Relocation Together
The Japan Marriage Support Association, based in Minato, Tokyo, has officially opened recruitment for local governments to participate in the 'Migration Marriage Project' slated for 2026. This initiative simultaneously assists individuals in finding both a life partner and a desirable place to relocate.
Overview of the 'Migration Marriage' Initiative
Since its inception, the project has garnered attention from individuals looking to move from urban areas to rural settings, creating an opportunity for them to meet potential spouses while exploring relocation possibilities. By September 2025, twelve prefectures across Japan had successfully implemented the project, receiving over 1,800 applications from singles eager to change their living circumstances and find love. Accepting municipalities play a pivotal role in facilitating introductions to local singles and providing the support necessary for both relocation and marriage preparations.
Addressing Dual Challenges: Marriage and Relocation
With a growing trend among the youth toward moving to rural areas, stories of success from participating municipalities continue to gain traction. The Japan Marriage Support Association is now calling for new local governments from across the country to join this innovative program. By combining marriage support with relocation encouragement, the project addresses multiple administrative challenges simultaneously.
Not only does this initiative aim to invigorate local communities, but it also contributes to strategies for counteracting population decline and boosting regional economies through sustained migration efforts.
Comprehensive Support for Participating Municipalities
The Association provides extensive support for local governments, from the initial preparations to the actual management of the program. Key offerings include:
- - Effective outreach to young people interested in rural relocation.
- - Balancing the gender ratio and promoting marriage among local singles.
- - Highlighting the charm of the region to create a sense of community.
- - Sharing best practices from other successful municipalities.
- - Providing promotional support through the Association's official website and media channels.
The plans are flexible and tailored to meet the specific needs of each locality, ensuring an efficient setup process. Interested municipalities are encouraged to reach out for detailed information or inquiries. For applications, document requests, or consultations, please visit
