Vietjet's Strategic Partnership in the U.S.
From January 9 to 11, 2025, Vietjet's senior leadership embarked on a significant visit to the United States as part of the "Friends of Vietnam Summit," which was held in Palm Beach, Florida. This trip marked a pivotal moment for Vietjet, showcasing its potential to further enhance U.S.-Vietnam economic relations.
Having arrived in Miami on what was celebrated as their inaugural flight to the U.S., aptly named "Hello America!", Vietjet's entry into the American market not only symbolizes the airline's dedication to strategic cooperation but also reflects its standing as a central figure in the collaboration between the two nations.
Vietjet's founder, Madame Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, emphasized the airline's role as a significant component of U.S.-Vietnam economic partnerships. With contracts exceeding nearly $50 billion with leading corporations—including Boeing, GE, CFM, Pratt & Whitney, and Honeywell—the company has created numerous jobs for American workers and facilitated a growing technology exchange. As evidence of Vietjet's ambitious growth, an additional $14 billion in agreements are currently under negotiation.
In collaboration with major tech firms such as Microsoft, AWS, Apple, and Google, Vietjet is actively involved in discussions with SpaceX and other providers for in-flight internet solutions. This initiative is intended to boost Vietjet's already expansive fleet and aims to cultivate a high-tech workforce development strategy across the industries of semiconductor technology, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and big data.
Madame Thao expressed her pride in how Vietjet contributes significantly to not only job creation in the U.S. but also the advancement of technological innovation while promoting Vietnam's economic development. She recalled the moment in 2017 when then-President Donald Trump visited Vietnam and witnessed the signing of a historic order for 100 Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Following his suggestion to double this order, Vietjet ultimately secured an agreement for a total of 200 aircraft, with Boeing set to deliver the first 14 in 2025—an inspiring milestone as Trump's second term begins.
As Vietjet continues to cultivate these robust partnerships, the airline is dedicated to maintaining affordable pricing while enhancing the quality of services it provides. Their vision is not just to connect destinations but also to bridge people and cultures, creating exciting business opportunities on a global scale. This commitment reflects Vietjet's ongoing mission to go beyond mere aviation and contribute positively to the communities it serves.
Through strategic cooperation and innovative advancements, Vietjet reaffirms its dedication to making a meaningful impact on both the Vietnamese economy and the broader international landscape.
